Touring boots identical to Salomon XPros?

If it helps Cast touring can add pin toes to your normal boots, not sure if they’re made to fit best with their custom tech toes though. Fischer rangers are a decent 4 buckle AT boot, but I’m pretty sure my friend has some older 4 buckle Salomon AT boot not sure if it’s an X pro or not.

Have you tried on the new S/Pro? If that fits your feet, the new Salomon Shift Pro boot is your best bet as it shares the same lower mold as far as I know. At least for my feet, the S/Pro last is notably lower volume through the midfoot than the QST, and maybe with a touch more room over the instep, but I have such a low instep that I'm not a great judge of that.

New Atomic Hawx Prime XTD could also be an option, mostly just cause of its versatile heat moldability.

Nordica Strider might also work, but it's not an amazing boot on the up if this'll be a dedicated touring boot.

I had x/pro for 4 years and just recently upgraded to the dalbello lupo ti. Ive been told the x/pro was really adaptable from the two fitters i saw when trying to find a touring boot so its hard to give an easy blanket recommendation.

I might only need one additional punch (got boots like 2 weeks before resorts shut down) but after heat molding and an ankle punch with touring 5 days in them they are a perfect "performance fit". try and find a shop that carries some of the following: dalbello lupo, atomic hawx, technica cochise, lange freetour, and roxa r3. those are all ~98 last and one of those should work for you.

Thank you guys for your suggestions. Ive tried last szns hawk xtd and the fit felt weird. Nothing hurt, but felt super low volume and i had a gut feeling itd come back and haunt me later. The bootfitter did say the SPros wouldnt fit me due to them being low volume boots.

If the hawk xtd shape didnt change, i might give it a go again this year and have them heat mold it. Ill be sure to check out the other boot suggestions as well

pretty much what i was thinking of doing to be on the safe side but the cost to ship and get them done, i might as well get another pair of boots

Yeah the Hawx Ultra XTD is pretty low volume, especially around the toe box, but the Hawx Prime XTD (new for 20/21, 100 mm last) is notably higher-volume so that's the one that I think might fit better.

And I'm kinda surprised the S/Pro wouldn't fit if the X Pro did. Is there a chance he was talking about the S/Max? Cause that boot is low volume af, while the S/Pro has what I'd call a fairly average, if not slightly low-volume 100 mm last.

On a related note, boot companies, it'd be real cool if boot names were more intuitive...

Yeah I’d just look into new ones unless you wanted the cast system too, you look at the atomic hawx yet? Seem like a good four buckle AT boot, pretty light

Yes this was my exact gripe when i tried them on, my toes were extremely squished in. I will try the new hawx prime xtd when they are released

Not sure why but that was my first intuition as well to try the S/Pro. I will try them out regardless. I have access to deals for atomic and salomon so trying to keep it to those brands, but willing to spend on other as well if they fit well.

My least favorite thing about ski boots is making color combos that work in all markets (what constitutes a "good" color varies wildly from country to country, region to region). I always end up disappointing someone #StoryOfMyLife

My second least favorite thing about ski boots is coming up with names that work in all markets- names that not only sound good but are useable from a trademarking perspective. Ski boots fall under Category 25 of Trademark Classification, which means all things headgear (hats, helmets, etc.), clothing, and footwear. So if some company trademarked a banger name for a headband, I can't use it on our ski boots. This makes it VERY tricky to find something that not only available to use but also makes sense to non-native English speakers (since this is about 70% of the global ski market). So, in my defense, I think Atomic has done a pretty good job so far ;) At least we are consistent with how we use our names too. I hope.

Haha I totally understand, was just giving you a hard time, and part of the issue probably comes down to everyone referring to boots in shorthand. I think the Ultra / Prime / Magna layout, along with the XTD designation, is about as intuitive as you could get, given the limiting parameters you guys have to deal with for the names.

Fischer also seems to be making an attempt to simplify theirs for 20/21, which is great, cause any time anyone asks me about a Fischer Curv or Ranger boot from the past decade, it usually takes me 20 minutes to figure out which one they actually had...
