dan4060I didn't. I have not heard of anyone having to do so. I would think that if you do your rehab and really come back strong it should not be a problem.
My first year post surgery was my first winter out of the mountains and not skiing 120 days in half a decade. I had left ski-bum hood for grad school, and the first year was intense so I didn't mind not skiing much. I am more than a decade since my surgery, and I ski 35-40 days a year without a problem. I don't ski quite the way I did before surgery, but that has to go with going from skiing 120 days a year to skiing 35-40. I don't think I would have had a problem getting back to full strength if I had remained in the mountains.
