Any snow left out west?

Newb

I’m taking a trip out to Colorado, Utah and Wyoming to look at collages to attend and I still wanna get some turns in, but I have no idea of the snow pack this late in the season, if there is any left. I’m willing to work to get some turns in so if there is any place worth checking out, you should help me out.

st. mary's glacier in co still goes, just skied it three days ago.... also just have to say this but please don't go into the backcountry without avy training and an avy trained partner(s), if there's enough snow to ski, theres enough snow to slide

careful in colorado OP. most spots at loveland are chill right now but in the steep stuff wets slides are def still possible

super pockmarked, i skied a couple couloirs
and speed control/hop turns were a must. the cliff jumping afterwards was much less sketchy honestly

edit: this line is melted and will not ski safely as of today

Most of SLCs mountains are done unless you hunt hard which you should have some BC knowledge for, main chute at Alta still goes and is pretty safe avy wise, I’d advise you to not ski it noon/mid day especially if it’s baking hot out but otherwise it’s skied up enough so it’s pretty packed in and maybe a few turns will send a little baby sluff before it stops on a mogul, but a sunset ski is very nice on it. Just expect rocks, maybe shitty skiing, and a lot of walking, honestly without a decent setup it can be a huge bitch, I’ve done late season hunting unprepared and not sure of where I was and it’s not fun so be careful where you venture it’s not as easy as it seems sometimes.

definitely get some education and backcountry experience if you can, overtime you’ll know where to go when the lifts stop spinning for a while and know how to go about skiing it.

St marys or the top of Loveland pass are probably your best bet for some easily accessible i70 snow. The saddle between Greys and Torreys, grizzly gulch, dry gulch, and herman gulch might also have some snow but Idk I haven't been up any of them this year. Just don't be a dumb ass and be aware of rocks under the snow and you'll be good. Have fun!

agree with those above- be careful. now is not the time to take unnecessary risk for the novelty of summer skiing.

Independence Pass is a go, I've been skiing it every other day. Pretty mild hiking, low angle, and easy to keep it Covid-friendly. It's pretty rotten and requires planning as to when you go- as most snow goes this time of year. I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth it but if you're eager to go, then it's an option.
