I figured it would be interesting to see/hear the worst damage you have done to a ski. Pics and stories accepted.
I’ll start with my relatively tame edge rip out. I ripped out my T Hall edges at the end of a great day at Remarkables resort in New Zealand. I was pretty bummed, it was only my second day skiing in NZ.
J-CHit a rock, poor pescado and it's wooden sidewall didn't stand a chance
That blows. Looks like such a fun ski but between wooden sidewall, fish tale, and line durability in general I'm hard pressed to ever see myself getting a pair

The ski itself isn’t any less durable than your average ski really, and it’s super fun. If you’re on the fence and you can snag them for a good price I’d highly recommend one
It was only the first year that had wooden sidewalls, the new ones have normal sidewalls. As far as line skis in geeral, I've never had any issues with my Mordecai's or sakanas in term of durability apart from normal wear from riding.
Fish tail is great, makes the ski feel solid like you're riding a longer ski but you still get the playfulness of a shorter ski. Less drag in deep snow and a nice feeling of getting sprung out of your turns when carving.

Inb4 dolan enters the room and asks op if his base is sintered

locked toe, be in a huge avalance and use up all the luck you saved up in your life up to that point. I don t care much about the wrecked ski. I am just super happy to still be here on this planet

animatorWhat exactly did they claim it as, that it wasn’t covered? Armadas customer service has been really good in my experience so this is surprising to me.
They don't cover "impact damage." Yes, this was likely caused by an impact, but not one that I could even feel. I have a pair of old Atomic Rituals that I've had much harder landings where I could feel rocks directly underfoot. They got coreshots too, but the sidewall is still completely intact after a lot more abuse than the Armadas ever received. Definitely recommend something durable like Moment, ON3P, Volkl, etc to most users on this site and especially this thread.
RyanvdonkLine is sister companies with K2 and are made in the same place...he's just on junior skis which most companies use lighter materials for in order to keep it a flex that an average kid can actually flex on snow.
little shit needs to grow up and stop riding pussy ski's that snap, needs to buy volkl or K2 then maybe his shit won't snap.
I ripped a heel piece of a rental pair of skis. It was semi frozen in place because of snow but I skied one run with it and the whole time I was like what is wrong with this ski? Are the edges completely round? It felt like I had no control over it whatsoever. Took it into the rental shop and was like somethings wrong with this. Shop guy gave it a smack and the heel piece basically came off.
Snapped a Volkl Wall at the top of an airbag ramp doing a good ol "flex test". Still bussed a cork 3 nose grabbing the tip of the snapped ski pulling it back.
Why is one of your skis grey? Are those the stock colors?
they look ridiculous together
BradFiAusNzCoCaWood works well for sidewall. I’ve had a few wooden sidewalls
If it’s treated correctly. As far as the torsional rigidity, stretch capabilities and resistance to impact, ABS is still better. Wood offers a clean look and saves a bit of weight, which is awesome for directional skis, pow skis, and touring skis! I personally am not a fan (the only ski it looks good on IMO is the Pescado) but to each their own
Yeah but there are many types of wood with varying porousness and different hydrophobic tendencies. Also, isn’t abs considered a “dead” material? I always preferred how UHMW feels compared to abs.

Fair enough! Yeah ABS is definitely not as prominent as it used to be, I believe UHMW is the standard now. ABS is dead but was more durable than UBMW, I think people moved away from it because of that feeling that it added to skis
I can still remember when revision went out of business then they showed up on skis.com for $199. I was so close to getting a pre-season pair of subtractions too. I would have been out $350!
Glad they’re still going strong!
Arnie777Got em repaired though. Still going strong now!

i think you would've received the ones from skis.com-- iirc it appeared to us that skis.com bought them for cheap to sell after revision went under
also i got the talismans straight from revision (first or second year, maybe?) and they were pretty dope and held up to my abuse really well. i'm definitely not a Revision apologizer, what they did at the end was horrid, but the skis weren't bad at all for the price and i do believe they got into it with good intentions and they got some decent skis on people's feet for cheap. for a season or two you saw a LOT of them
seems to me shit went sour and he made a cowardly decision at the end which is really a shame. the skis were fine tho, there's been some revisionist history (sorry) on NS since then with the hivemind deciding retroactively that the skis were garbage too lol
I think the skis looked dope and held up well. I was going to buy them from revision directly during their pre-season sale before they went bankrupt, not skis.com lol
I always liked revision. I was bummed when they went under, but very thankful I didn’t put money down on a pre-season order of the Subtraction

Yes these are still skiable and will be ridden as a daily driver until the base fully wears away or the binding holes and their heli coils give out completely

Jesus Fucking Christ. I could never enjoy skiing knowing my bases looked like that.
