I figured it would be interesting to see/hear the worst damage you have done to a ski. Pics and stories accepted.
I’ll start with my relatively tame edge rip out. I ripped out my T Hall edges at the end of a great day at Remarkables resort in New Zealand. I was pretty bummed, it was only my second day skiing in NZ.
Snapped my ski last (when resorts were open) day of the season. It was a used pair of 148 Line TW Shortys that were way to small for me. Decided to buy new skis for next season.
I also snapped my old Volkl mantra juniors attempting to 3 a sketchy gap in my friends backyard. I ended up casing the landing and snapping the middle of the ski
I’ve “Delammed” the tails on early prodigy’s by literally setting them down on concrete while talking excitedly. I’d like to see the faction photos because I was shocked when I realIzed how thin the topsheet was (at least on the tails)
May take awhile to find pics but my old K2 Press turned rock skis were carnage. Used to ski rocks, cement stair cases, sidewalks etc. to K2's credit they held up well to being total rock skis, but eventually the bases got so scratched that they wouldn't slide on a steep trail with snow, and if they did they would zig zag uncontrollably
Had to come out of NS retirement to post damage done to my Factions and Icelantics within a couple of weeks of each other at the end of this year. Both were under warranty and had a super easy time getting them replaced.
Was skiing with my friends who are beginners and we were sitting on the chair and the cheap rental ski just randomly snaps. We hadn’t even done anything yet and they even tried to charge us for it
I killed a new pair of skis that I just picked up a few hours earier on sharks in early season of powder... the store was a bit wtf to have me come in asking if it could be fixed 2-3 hours after they mounted them :o
Done to a pair of brand-new Armada Declivity Xs on my third day this season. Didn't even notice the impact that did it and didn't see the damage until I got home that night. Was not covered under warranty, and I no longer buy Armada products.
7 sidewall screws, 18 inches of edge and a whole lotta "G/Flex West System Epoxy" later
(seriously the best shit when it comes to major repairs. This epoxy has been holding tight for 2 seasons)
10/10 Vishnu makes a ski you wanna repair

Curious what they're reasoning was for not covering this under warranty?
a_burger
WTB 182cm talismans if anyone got em still, fun ass ski
i still have mine, this year was their final season and they held up super well to crazy abuse. came up short on backies on em, smashed em into boxes, landed on rocks off a cliff, they took it all super well
i really liked the skis, they were softer than i prefer but otherwise i liked them a ton. i think it's pretty funny how the whole fiasco happened and that magically made so many people start hating on the skis themselves when they were used extensively and well-liked until then
QuaggyDidn't they take the pre-sale money and skip town?
sindreplassenyup haha
yeah they did, but that was their last year (obviously haha). which was a dishonest cluster fuck of course. but the skis themselves served me super well and i got them for crazy cheap

They don't cover "impact damage." Yes, this was likely caused by an impact, but not one that I could even feel. I have a pair of old Atomic Rituals that I've had much harder landings where I could feel rocks directly underfoot. They got coreshots too, but the sidewall is still completely intact after a lot more abuse than the Armadas ever received. Definitely recommend something durable like Moment, ON3P, Volkl, etc to most users on this site and especially this thread.

Weird. There was clearly an impact but the rest of the base and topsheet look so good it doesn't look to my untrained eye like it was an impact that should have caused the ski to explode. The way the base is chunked out so cleanly and everything. Sucks.
Snapped a Volkl Wall at the top of an airbag ramp doing a good ol "flex test". Still bussed a cork 3 nose grabbing the tip of the snapped ski pulling it back.

What exactly did they claim it as, that it wasn’t covered? Armadas customer service has been really good in my experience so this is surprising to me.

appaling at how garbage thos sheets of thin plywood. Disgusting ski brand look at how easy it breaks, should have spent 500 less on a good pair of volkl, or K2. Stick to something more core.

They were a used pair that lasted me pretty much the whole season, so I can't complain. I also didn't have the money to buy new skis and bindings.

Line is sister companies with K2 and are made in the same place...he's just on junior skis which most companies use lighter materials for in order to keep it a flex that an average kid can actually flex on snow.
