The riots really need to move out of the city and to the areas where DAs and politicians live.
While seeing the city I call home 8 months out year burn was super saddening, seeing people come together today to clean up the mess was one of the most heartwarming things ever. A unifying action like that speaks much louder than the rioters.
Film.This is cool and all and super punk until you realize the people you call when you are laying in a bloody pulp like the video I posted above are the police/ first responders. So yea bro so hesh but everyone says fuck the cops until they roll up to the car accident you are in and block off traffic and allow the EMT's to save your life. But keep that same energy and make sure to never call them whenever you need them.
Pretty sure what I said was misunderstood. It really sucks that people are burning buildings and blocking highways. My point was that in the US, it takes about 2 months to become a police officer, where in Europe, it can take around 6 years of education and training. I just saw a video of a cop jamming his knee into the neck of a protestor, as people shouted "GET YOUR FUCKING KNEE OFF HIS NECK". After like 30 seconds the other cop literally has to push his partners knee off of the guy. Also just saw a video of a police interceptor t boning and flipping an ambulance that had its lights on. The bar for becoming a police officer in the US is so fucking low, and they can get away with almost anything, regardless of evidence.
I wasn't saying I support violent riots, just that I'm not at all surprised by what's happening as a result of recent events.

Everyone pretty much agrees that rioting and destroying other people's property is counterproductive, there is nothing to debate there. Add that to the list of banalities getting unnecessarily brought up in every conversation:
- not all cops are racist assholes
- violence is bad
- racism is not as bad as it was 50 or 100 years ago
But it's interesting to see people who where quiet over George Floyd's death now be all upset because Target was looted, really telling to see what triggers some people's indignation.
Black people are more likely than white to be shot by the police, this is the simple fact here.
Saying this is because black people are (much) more likely to be criminals also furthers the point that the system in general favors white people, giving them a better shot at having a successful life and staying out of trouble. So the problem is not "just" racist cops, the problem is that our society in general is still putting some at a disadvantage because of the color of their skin.
Whether or not it's written in the law is also irrelevant, because the data clearly shows that it is the reality, proving that the problem does exist.
If despite all the data, you still disagree that there is a problem, I'm sorry but you're very racist, which is your right, but don't be in denial about it.

The differences in interracial crime rates between white people and black people is absolutely staggering. Anybody who thinks black people are the victims in all this is either an idiot or an enormous racist.
In my opinion, most are probably just idiots who are too stupid to understand the relative value of anecdotal evidence vs statistical evidence. It's just another reason why passing stats should be mandatory to graduate high school.

Yeah I posted a study to Facebook done by the University of St. Louis showing that unarmed black men are more likely to be killed by police of color rather than white police and was told it’s not a reliable source. I get that people are emotional so I let it go but it’s still baffling people will completely disregard statistical analysis. Especially when it’s proven time and time again that it’s far more a police competence problem/ accountability more than it is a racism problem.

I’m not some cucked petit bourgeois white lib - I don’t own shit, and isn’t that what insurance is for anyway? Black people not getting murdered by cops without consequences means more to me than private property. Also, plenty of Minneapolis area small business owners whose businesses were damaged in various ways have voiced support for the protestors/rioters, and even Target’s statement was remarkably focused on caring for the community - because they’ve got such resources that this sort of damage doesn’t mean shit to them.
If you’re a cop and haven’t stopped enforcing the unjust laws in this country after seeing them repeatedly get away with murder, your morality is shit. Also, the pretty well-documented much-higher level of spousal abuse by cops (2-4x that of the general population) makes it pretty damn clear that they aren’t fantastic people. You might not start out a bad person when you enter law enforcement, but you justify terrible things if you’re staying in it.

Quite a few businesses where the rioting originated in Minneapolis were owned by minorities without insurance. The governor isn't going to give aid to any of them either. Pretty sad if you ask me

People all over are saying things like this and outright saying or insinuating that leadership in departments need to fix this problem of systemic racism. But then I watch the Minneapolis Chief of Police to see his response and out walks a black man with 4 stars on his shirt. Am I to believe that this black officer is supporting or hiding a systematic problem of racist policies against blacks in his community? Seriously? That doesn't add up, where are these cops learning to target blacks? Are they doing it? It sure fucking seems that way, but I don't buy that it's from department leadership.

If we can speculate that shutdowns and social distancing etc saved countless lives, I think it's fair to speculate that these riots may not have been as drastic if the youth partaking in them had something to do the past 3 months.
