Murdered an African American during arrest
And his accomplice too cowardly to stop his co officer , and how does someone shaped like me potato head become an officer?
These racist pigs should be publicly hung in the street
I know and that’s sad
He was just so helpless.
I also can’t help but think it coulda been any race , that cop was filled with fear , had no business wearing a badge.
TheHamburglarCold-blooded murder. This is America.
This country has a massive racism issue. Between white people calling 911 on people of color - fuck Amy Cooper - and this, along with the literally hundreds of other stories that have come up in just the past few years, we are a sick, sick country.
Anyone who says racism is not an issue in the US is either a racist, or a damn idiot.
It seems like every day theres a new video of someone being killed by police. I know they aren't all bad and there are plenty of police officers that do their job right everyday that we don't see, but the number of these videos that are out there is kind of absurd and its infuriating it keeps happening and then we forget about it a week later.

Agree 95% of cops are probably doing the job well, and doing it for the right reasons
Unjust death. No one, regardless of skin color, should die while being arrested. All cops involved should face the justice system the same way a civilian should.
Cops get tazed during training so they know how it feels right? Maybe they should get the meatiest most roided up cop in the precinct to kneel on the necks of new recruits until they pass out. By the way, this kneeling on necks, knees to the middle of the back, stepping on head, grinding face into the pavement and just general beating is commonplace. If you get cuffed (for whatever reason) I'd say there's at least a 50% chance one of these things happens to you. Many cops just enjoy inflicting pain, and there's nothing you can do about it because they'll kill you if you do.
There's a lot of great cops out there. But there's also a lot of very stupid or racist or just plain psychos out there wearing a badge. I know some real douche bags from school who are now cops. Also know some really good cops.
When it comes to cops policing these areas, I think that a certain amount of racism is likely developed over time. Unless a truly enormous amount of white, violent crime is going unreported, blacks just commit more violent crime due to socioeconomic disadvantages, and an upbringing that pushes them toward crime. Police see those numbers, see the literal cases firsthand, and likely develop racist tendencies of thought. In turn, blacks hate the police and the vicious cycle continues. Are there racist cops? Of course. Is there an epidemic of racism in the U.S.? Maybe? It's all difficult to discern because there are so many gray areas in which actions were justified and things are blown out of proportion. The shooting of Mike Brown was an example of a justified shooting blown out of proportion. The best we can do is fight racism where we see it, and try to look past all of these issues to be good to our fellow man, both sides need to do this.

That last bit. Be part of the solution, not just the outcry. Posting something about white privilege on your Instagram story does nothing other than virtue signal. Go out into the world and love people.

ScaryDumpTruckNot sure if it was racism but it definetly was their fault and they should be more than fired.
When is the last time you saw a white guy get killed by a police officer for no reason? People like you are the reason why racism still exists, you won't accept that racism is a thing still, you are the problem.
ski.loonThis country has a massive racism issue. Between white people calling 911 on people of color - fuck Amy Cooper - and this, along with the literally hundreds of other stories that have come up in just the past few years, we are a sick, sick country.
Anyone who says racism is not an issue in the US is either a racist, or a damn idiot.
The media cherry picks these stories and throws them in the public's face to make you believe this is a common event. Yeah you have the occasional twat on social media like Amy but if you look at the vast majority of normal Americans people are pretty well over it.
The problem is the media does everything it can to create racial division in this country and grabs stories that are isolated incidents and makes them public talking points like its some kind of endemic trend. Meanwhile they completely ignore the realities that minorities face and the massive death toll that is actually happening.
For instance African Americans make up 10% of the US population yet account for 52% of all murder arrests and 57% of all gun homicide deaths.
Of these deaths only 2% were Blacks killed by Whites and 97% were Black on Black.
The thing is if a White person kills a Black person its put on front page news headlines to rile everyone up for views but if a Black person kills a Black person the media just ignores it or says its, "Gang Related" and nobody gives a shit like those kids lives never mattered.
The kids are usually in gangs in the first place because the Black family has all been destroyed. 70% of Black kids are born out of wedlock and only 38% live in a household with both parents. This means kids grow up in communities with no hope for economic improvement and the only 'family' structure is to join a gang based on crime.
This is the engine that drives the cycle of violence and negative perception of the Black community, especially by law enforcement who deal with this day after day. Then when something boils over and a cop kills a Black citizen, everyone goes into a frenzy without even thinking about the trends that led to the event in the first place.
That is what bothers me about this, nobody gives a shit about these people who grow up and live in a literal hell of violence, fear and hopelessness until there is an event that can me manipulated by the media for views and attention then we all act like we care and how racist America is.
Media writes it because they get views. They are all for profit and will choose stories that generate clicks and in return ad revenue. Non profit mainstream news reporting would be a very good thing.

There are plenty of white people killed by cops every year:
Im against wrongful deaths by cops for any citizen but you need to look at the stats to see what the true reality it and not what the media puts in your face.

Thats a pretty broad stat, of course there are people who are shot and killed by police of all races, but you don't hear about a white guy getting beat in the streets for no reason brother, our country is racist.

You are contradicting yourself. You say that 10% of the population is black, yet, according to this link, 22% of shooting deaths were Black Americans. 2018 was 20.9%, 2019 was 23%.
It's fine to admit your a racist - because you sound like one. Just don't expect anyone to respect you when you admit it. To say that America isn't racist is ridiculous.
Yes there are Americans who have certain racist tendencies. Do all Americans have these tendencies? No. What percentage of Americans need to have which tendencies to be labeled racist? It's much more complicated than:
Is America Racist Yes/No

Ok, so police shootings of Blacks are 100% more than the population.
However they are:
315% greater to be offenders of homicide
404% greater to be offenders of sexual assault
207% greater to be offenders of violent assault
The more you do violent crime, the more likely you are to interact with police in a life threatening situation.
So yeah hide behind your race baiting crap and ignore the stats. You can see from my post above I care about all Americans. We need to fix the actual social issues that are ruining Black communities instead of getting riled up over the isolated symptomatic issues that come from it. But as soon as anyone mentions any of this they are deemed a racist and we go year after year of the problem getting worse.
So if you count the fact kids are being gunned down in the streets of Chicago etc while the general population ignores it then yeah in that sense we do have a racist problem.
BigPurpleSkiSuitWhen it comes to cops policing these areas, I think that a certain amount of racism is likely developed over time. I don't see how it developed over time. Go back 70 years. Hell even less. Cops were just as racist or more than most of the people in this country. Idk, i get that things can get worse over time etc, but there's been plenty of racism the whole time, and that doesn't just magically go away.
I wish more cops would speak out against the shitty cops than get defensive for cops in general. The more they unify with the dirtbag cops the worse it makes the situation and cops in general seem.
Most cops are pretty decent. It's a shitty job, someones gotta do it. But when the dirtbag cops can skate through the legal system it just makes everything worse. Not enough good cops standing up against it. Too many incidents where worst case a couple would have to resign in a situation that would have resulted in a murder charge if a civilian and the person wasn't black.
Also plenty of normal arrests, shooting etc that get blown out. That said the racism is fucked and has lacked being addressed enough its hard to blame people for being suspicious of all these deaths.
Idk so much racism still everywhere and still way too much of a consensus that it's either okay, doesn't matter, or black people shouod get over it. The civil war only ended 150 years ago. Civil rights was mid last century and very much in many of our citizens lifetimes. It's crazy that there's this view that that was all in the past, there's no lasting effects, or current racism and inequality and people shouod stop making a big deal out if it and move on.
It's not surprising but it sucks that this is still an issue in 2020. Especially since were "the greatest nation in the world and something something freedom"
BigPurpleSkiSuitHow can you make a blanket statement like that?
Yes there are Americans who have certain racist tendencies. Do all Americans have these tendencies? No. What percentage of Americans need to have which tendencies to be labeled racist? It's much more complicated than:
Is America Racist Yes/No
I mean, Obama won 51% of the popular vote and most that voted against him was because he had a (D) after his name on the ballot and not his skin color.
When I say developed over time I mean if you come into the force with no prejudice and are simply doing your job. You will start to notice that more black people commit violent crime than white people. You get used to it, and start basing your views off of your own experiences, and will in turn think less of black people in general without realizing it. Not everyone does this, but it would be hard not to ignore race in your politicing duties when there is such a clear connection between race and crime.

I'm just also looking at the institutional racism that is ever-present in our country.
The more you do violent crime, the more likely you are to interact with police in a life threatening situation.

And do you not think that many of the issues created are because of our institutions? Because I do, and many of those institutions were created and are operating to oppress minorities.
And asians were also oppressed, the difference is they had strong family values, made sure their children were well educated and are now the most economically successful group in the US today. Yes they did not have the same history of slavery but they encountered racism in the US too after coming from abroad with nothing to their names. To say the blame lies with someone else and not yourself helps no one.

Just because he is black doesn't mean it is racist. I'm not ruling out racism I'm just saying there's a good chance he didn't purposely try to kill him and instead he was trained poorly.
ScaryDumpTruckJust because he is black doesn't mean it is racist. I'm not ruling out racism I'm just saying there's a good chance he didn't purposely try to kill him and instead he was trained poorly.
Or he is just a shitty cop. I'm hesitant to claim racism as I don't like to assume ithers intentions, but come on. "Poorly trained?" Anyone with half a skull can see the guy was cuffed. What was he gonna do? Kneeling on someones neck for a sustained period of time is not how you detain someone. There is no defending the actions. Absolutely terrible work by the officer.
eheathWhen is the last time you saw a white guy get killed by a police officer for no reason?
There's plenty of terrible police/fedwork at the cost the lives of people of all races. Middle class white males just rarely make the headlines and social media rounds when it happens. Overreach of authority and racism are both bad things not insignificant of each other.
Had a black guy pull a gun on me over an oz of weed when I was 16, but I do t think black people are bad.
Its cops that I’m afraid of, and I’m white. I do fear that if I give a cop the slightest reason, maybe I smell like weed and have a tone of voice, some arrogance, maybe he’s dumpy and was abused in highschool and decides to kill me bc he’s a depressed loser with a badge, or maybe he just loses control during arrest or “accidentally” kills me bc they’re so gdamn ignorant racist and uncaring for other humans. I

I understand and agree with what your saying, but...
Its like saying soldiers would find all Islam’s, pakistani, Muslims to be terrorists when we know the opposite is true, I for one do not think terrorist when I see these peoples, nordo I feel fear, though I do think landscaper when I see a Mexican in America, miss my friends rn 😐
I think the problem is these people becoming cops etc have such a tendency for power, control and dominance to begin with. That badge gives them the courage to commit the hate they wouldn’t otherwise have the guts to do. Those cops, without badges and guns look like a couple pussies.
BiffbarfThere's plenty of terrible police/fedwork at the cost the lives of people of all races. Middle class white males just rarely make the headlines and social media rounds when it happens. Overreach of authority and racism are both bad things not insignificant of each other.
Middle white class males don't get shot by cops, are you kidding me? Poor ones do and yes you are correct, I was a bit hasty with that comment. But you can't deny there is a problem of systemic racism within the USA and african americans aren't exactly set up for success in our criminal justice system.

Shocking your defending the cop. Same thing with back country defending them.
Im a huge 6’5” dude who blacks out and can get violent. I’d have been shot by a cop by now if I was black. Instead they usually think I’m funny and drive me home no charges.

Research duncan lemp. Dude got no-knocked and shot in his sleep next to his pregnant girlfriend. Cops said he met them with a firearm however they will not release body cam footage. It does happen
ski.loonAgree 95% of cops are probably doing the job well, and doing it for the right reasons
Wouldn't say 95% but even if 40% are like that then you can't say ACAB
Either way tho this country's police system is obviously deeply flawed rn and I'm so fucking sick about hearing this kind of shit happen for the millionth time. Something gotta change, somebody's gonna snap

I am not defending the cop my dude, I'm not sure where you got that from.
Also I didn't ban you, why are people always assuming I do all of the dirty work around here?
eheathMiddle white class males don't get shot by cops, are you kidding me?
Bad take.
Although I don't know why this is even a conversation we are having right now. You don't fix an issue just by comparing whether or not it is better or worse than another issue. There are racist cops. There are poorly trained cops. There are racist poorly trained cops. All three result in some amount of unjustified deaths. Doesn't matter if more or less people of one race get killed, its a problem that has gone on for too long and needs to be fixed.
Being a cop is a tough job and is often thankless, and many people use that as an excuse not to take on this problem and fix it. Its a systematic problem from one bad cop all the way up to the economic and societal systems that create such issues. Unfortunately in the U.S. we don't like changing things that have been the same for so long. Even if they are terrible
Im against wrongful deaths by cops for any citizen but you need to look at the stats to see what the true reality it and not what the media puts in your face.
There are also 6x as many white people as black people in the US tho, so dividing the 370 by 6 to account for the increased population, you get 61. That's 4 times less than the amount of black people killed.
For instance African Americans make up 10% of the US population yet account for 52% of all murder arrests and 57% of all gun homicide deaths.
Of these deaths only 2% were Blacks killed by Whites and 97% were Black on Black.
Well your accounting for elderly black folks and women who don’t commit many crimes.
But it has more to do with how pathetic middle class white people are. Everyone young who is buying into the nonsense and hiding from a virus they have a 99.98% chance of surviving is scum.
I have been ‘taking my chances’ in Florida since May 6. I can’t wait to feed someone a knuckle sandwich in Boston if they tell me to wear a mask jogging. Gotta support the economy.
freestyler540How about these wannabe lynchers? Guy on the left was a retired police detective.
His last job was a prosecutorial investigator, which basically does non-police investigations for the local DA... so we can just take a wild guess at the dumb shit this douchecanoe has done to get convictions.
Serioulsy NS? You guys are comparing the importance of deaths and saying it isn't racist. Any meaningless death is a tragedy, regardless of their skin color
Black People do get killed for no reason by cops more than whites. That is not saying white people don't get killed by cops for insufficient reasoning
You are making the point that just because white people get killed too, America isn't racist.
America as a whole, is a racist country, but not all Americans are racists
Anyone getting killed by a cop without a reason is a tragedy, and blacks get killed in much higher numbers so America should focus on lowering that number
500 years of slavery doesn’t just figure itself out on its own in a generation. My dad was 12 years old when it became illegal to forcibly keep black people from voting or working. The response to the civil rights movement by most white people was just to pretend like they can’t see skin color, so now we can’t even recognize the vestiges of the KKK and Jim Crow when it stares us in the face. That cop probably didn’t even believe himself to be racist, we are all just chasing ghosts at this point.
eheathWhen is the last time you saw a white guy get killed by a police officer for no reason? People like you are the reason why racism still exists, you won't accept that racism is a thing still, you are the problem.
~600 white people are killed by the police every year. ~70 of them are unarmed. For comparison, ~270 black people are killed by police every year. ~46 of who are unarmed. Source: https://mappingpoliceviolence.org/
You never see a white guy get killed by a police officer because the national media doesn't report on it because it doesn't fit into their "white people are evil" narrative.
Are you that mad that you can't use racial and homophobic slurs in the forums? Interesting gripe to post in this thread. Also I didn't ban you either. Just wondering what your point was.
