Animals while skiing?

No not Henrik. Actual nanimals. Anyone got any good wild or domestic animal stories? I saw a porcupine this year in the woods so that was cool. The skunk was not.

I occasionally see some squirrels cross a trail here or there. Also I've had many near death encounters with the legendary sabertooth beaver.

Moose walk around PC in the spring, you'll be riding the lift up the mtn and a huge fucking moose is just walking through the trees, its pretty cool.

Popped into the trees last season to take a leak and finishing up I see a bear about 20-30 feet to the left of me...being by myself and in tree coverage, it was definitely a bit scary

See mostly marmots around Utah, in the BC or even PCs jump landings they’ll make little holes to live in, also plenty of moose in PC to find. My friends did set off a small avy this season and I guess along the way it brought a porcupine with it, think it made it out alive as they didn’t have to perform a rescue search and had no visible trauma.

Skiing moose mountain in AK you'd see moose (shocker I know) but I'd always get sketched out skiing the last run of the day because the long twilight would fade out very quickly and you could always hear rustling in the trees.

I've seen fox, bear, bobcat, wombat, owls, and prolly other stuff from the cat. Seen a few of the same walking on the mountain.

Only really seen deer and maybe one bear riding.

At Alyeska once the main lift was blocked by a moose who was in the lift line. Theres a vid out somewhere just search like moose ak lift line or something.

I totally forgot about Ptarmigans (basically high-alpine chickens). During the winter they have pure white coats and are basically invisible, and I had one time skiing in RMNP where one just blew up out of nowhere right next to me (basically like that LTC video). Normally they don't give a shit about people and will just slowly move away, but if you basically ski right over them, they take off seemingly out of nowhere (had the same happen with turkeys and grouse while biking).

Moose are sweet. They are actually really dangerous. There have been some stories from North Idaho of snowmobiles having to bail into snowbanks or rolling their sleds over if a moose attacks. Its a problem because the moose use the groomed tracks as trails and there is no way to get around them.

oh yeah man, bikers run into them in the summer on the trails in PC all the time, most people just turn around cause those fuckers will charge you hard.

i spent literal days cleaning up after the elk herd on our fairways at Glenwild last year lol, the elk herd is fucking awesome and majestic to see at the first light of dawn

Was that Wasatch Mountain Golf Course? Once I was driving the back way up over Park City on Pine Canyon Dr and we drove by the course and there was a huge flock of turkeys all chillin on one of the greens.

Man, I miss that drive. You start at PC and head over the pass then over the other side, pass Dear Creek Reservoir, then up through Sundance and over the pass through the Aspen groves and back down AF Canyon.

Under condor at canyons i was skiing through a bushy area and rolled right up to a 7 foot tall moose. It was like 5 yards away and it just walked off after a minute.
