Armada Tracer 108

Hey folks, long time lurker, first time poster. Looking for opinions on the tracer 108.
6’, 170 pounds
I ski in CO, mainly around the basin. Thinking about getting the 188 and putting a cast setup on it, mainly for touring but might end up using them inbounds too. Can get a hot deal as well, so that’s adding to my interest.

Looking for opinions on the flex of the ski, and where people have mounted theirs. The only other semi directional ski I’ve ever skied is the 4frnt raven, which is my current touring setup, and I dig those. Those are 184cm with dynafits, so looking for a longer, “chargier” touring option.

Other skis I’ve enjoyed: j allplay/vacation (184,186), arv 106 (188), on3p Jeffrey 108 (186), k2 shreditor 112 (189)

I had a pair of 17/18 tracers, now riding on 4frnt hoji's. The tracer is a bit more stiff than the hoji, especially in the tail and is more capable of crushing through chopped snow at the resort with less chatter than the 4frnts. I think they were mounted at the recommended position but I'm not sure. I loved the ski but I hit a rock going down the East Wall which delaminated both skis near the binding mount, reliability might be questionable so you might want some sort of warranty if you get them.

armada has a lot of awesome stuff, Im not sure the tracer 108 is their awesomest, but... usage is a thing.



They were on sale for $150 here recently :o

the 17/18 model looked like a solid ski, but has gotten significantly lighter since. So it would probably be a solid backcountry ski, but I don't think it would be an inbounds charger, even in the 188. Also, Armada's warranty kind of sucks, so I wouldn't want to count on them after de-laming a ski after

Ya, I’ve had problems with delam on armadas in the past, that’s a good point. Appreciate the feedback everyone

I'm skiing the tracer 118 188. I really like the compromise between weight and stiffness. i walked up to 8 hours with the ski and if its getting fast you have a usefull tool. i'm using it for all my bigmountain stuff but it works also inbounds. I also skied the tracer 108 for some days. its even lighter and better on groomers. although I had to mount my bindigs on +4cm regarding the factory recommedation. otherwise the tail is too soft for me, but i just like an agressive setup...

yeah right -4.5....i skied it factory recommended before and felt like i'm loosing the turn in the second phase of the turn in steep lines because of the soft tail. with +4 i work against the camber because of the different pressure point. but otherhands it feels more stable and the turn feels smother. of course its also better for switch landings but i wouldnt refer the ski to more playful
