Favorite powder big gun?

Idk why I suddenly feel like talking about this but I do. What is your favorite ski for deep days only?
I've never skied a true fat ski (120mm+) before, fattest I've skied are JJs and the 116mm Liberty ski and I didn't get to ski either in actual fresh. The latter blasted thru groomer turns tho.

120's the sweet spot imo. K2 catamarans are my favorite, superhero ski for sure. Unsinkable and effortless to ski. 2nd favorite are the 4frnt inthaynes, they rail, have a ton of pop and are super light. Both skis are kinda polar opposite, it's nice have the choice to noodle around or charge sometimes.

I desperately wanna try some super insane profiles like the ARG II, DPS Lotus, Moment Ghost Train, On3p Billy Goat, and Chipotle Banana. I would also like to try an insanely big, heavy, and chargy ski sometime. I generally like playful, rockered, poppy skis but at the same time I wanna someday have something in my quiver that will just demolish everything in its path.
I don't know why I'm such a sucker for these crazy ass ski designs lmao

And On3p billy goat 189. Love them. The opus is a more all around ski. . but the goats will make mashed potatoes seem like groomers!

Just looked it up...holy shit
139.5mm wide. So it has no actual sidecut at all? How much does it weight? How do you ski on piste? They should bring this shape back and use it on the Ghost Train mold or something lol

i've had these for a while and their the absoloute funnest skis ever. super fun on groomers, pow, and i even take them to the park when im riding them for new wave stuff thanks to the 30% rocker front and back.

Atomic Bentchetler 120's 2016, with the galaxy topsheets/bases before they got all light and shit. In the long lengths of that it was a pretty heavy stable ski, not a crud buster but felt so solid in pow/landings. Made me feel like I was Chris/pollard/pep
The 1 ski I want to try is a ~190 blizzard bodacious in soft conditions. Thing looks like a 2x4

Theyre heavy haha, mine are mounted with Tyrolia Peak 18s which are also heavy. However, having the mass underfoot makes the swing weight really low.

Skiing on piste with them takes some getting used to but is manageable with controlled powerslides, just stay over the middle of the ski and slide em around, definitely do not try to engage the tips haha. It only takes a little bit of soft snow to make them come alive though.

For deep snow it would have to be my Bent Chetler 120s but for more variable snow conditions I would have to say either the K2 reckoner 112s or Moment deathwishes

A friend of mine co-owns a used ski shop and every year we get a big group and take out some of their skis for a few days.

Last year I rode a Liberty mutant (145 underfoot) and it was weird.
I was riding it in 14 inches, and I think it deserved about twice that much snow

I don't know, I bet they're a blast in spring afternoon slushville too, though I ski 110-122 everyday and don't see any problems with it.

If you're used to a ski that wants a more neutral stance than the BG's will not be responsive in tight places, but if you pressure the tips, they will come alive and be more responsive than you would expect from a ski that size.

It's actually pretty renowned for how good a tree ski it is due to this.

The weird counter point is that on groomers, the BG responds better to a neutral stance. So a lot of people that like to drive their ski's have a hard time getting along with them when not in pow or tree's.

Super happy so far with a pair of Chipotle Bananas I got at the end of last season, though I'm yet to get them in anything truly deep. They like to go fast, and they're crazy stable for a ski that size when they do. My Bent Chetler 120s are a blast, too, though they're much more at home in light, dry powder than in something like deep Sierra cement, where they can tend to get overpowered. I also really enjoyed a pair of Surface New Lifes I bought back in the day. Originally got them solely for pow days and ended up using them in pretty much any condition.

Really interested in trying Billy Goats after digging the larger turn radius on the CBs.

that pin tail 120 shape suits my skiing style great
i almost wish i ordered the metal touron killers instead of another carbon pair
theres a long thread on the tgr with more info
