I managed to pull one of the brake arms out and bent the plate that holds the arms together, as shown in the pics.
It appears that the arm isn't bent, it's just partially yanked out. I can't seem to push it back in though, so I'm wondering if anyone knows how to do this? I'm a little sheepish about taking the whole heel off as in https://www.instructables.com/id/Rossignol-FKS-Look-Pivot-Binding-Repair/, but I can for sure bend the metal back into place on the plate.
