ski.loonCigarettes aren't contagious
I'm not so sure its that we are scared. I think its more just if we can avoid making this pandemic last longer than we have too, let's do what we can.
I do think there are ways for us to continue living our lives to certain normalcy while still being responsible. I am planning a road trip around for late June/early July to a few areas within driving distance from Denver, and will just be camping/not using public restrooms and all that jazz.
I don't blame people for wanting to ski at all. I'm itching to get back up to A-Basin and shred and I think that's a legit thing to do if we are responsible - which I know I would be. BUT, I think people flying across the country for something that is non-essential really doesn't make sense. Look, there is a 95% chance you will probably go and not carry the virus, but if thousands of people are doing the same thing it's not helping the greater cause which is ending this shit so we can go back to our normal lives.
skiindianaYou're missing the point. I have no interest in 'arguing my point' with scared bitches who ride bikes and take walks wearing a mask when they're not sick. More than half the country is currently acting like they have a mental disorder related to germs.
My plan is to do what I want within the bounds of the law. I don't wear a mask unless it is required. I don't stay home unless I feel sick. I'm one of the 'liberals' who think all the liberals are acting like a bunch of crazy people willing to do whatever the government or the news tells them.
Stay the fuck inside. You should be able to sustain yourself on your own smugness.

skiindianaYou all are insufferable. shut the fuck up about your views on what other people do.
skiindianaCongrats on repeating stupidity?
skiindianaKiller bro, you got me. Like please tell me more about how I can live a better life as you have?
skiindianaI for one will just ask your bitch ass for permission to do what I want.
skiindianaYou're missing the point.

Seriously though, if the whole point of opening this stuff back up is to "stimulate the economy," then wouldn't local economies appreciate some influx of gas/groceries/lodging transactions to get things going?
i fully get the argument that states in the US are opening up to early, but that decision is being made so far above our heads if stuff is opening you might as well go with it? if everybody continues to use good hygiene/PPE in crowded communal areas, and the most at risk stay super vigilant, shouldn't the hospitals be prepared for a "post-opening wave?" I understand how bad its been in some areas and for the health care workers. I have a nurse friend whose lost 60 corona patients in the Boston area in the past few weeks, but that's mostly because the whole country was late to the game on any pandemic procedures. Now that there's some new protocols isn't there a way forward?
at any rate, I work in a restaurant in Jackson, I'm gonna be dealing with guests from georgia and texas and florida by june anyways so i feel like I can either get a new career, or I just can't live in fear anymore. Would Hood locals be super pissed for people coming?
Buy grocieries/water at home. drive 30 hours from wyoming to hood. stop only for gas. use gloves/ppe. keep to myself while camping.
not unimaginable that people could do it safely, but I understand the fear of large gatherings and campgrounds getting overrun. i also understand that not everybody is capable of playing by the rules, and its easy to imagine a bunch of grimy skids raging it up in the lot or blm somewhere and all of a sudden you have a shanty town of 100 ppl. this article has interesting details on how they might crack down on that stuff.
ski.loonIs Yellowstone planning on opening up this summer? I know a bunch of the other parks are but haven't heard anything about Yellowstone. Also out of curiosity, which restaurant? Is it Bubba's by any chance?

abar. The point is not that I'm worried you'll transmit the virus while skiing. The point is that if governor brown sees timberline attracting people to fly in to Oregon from halfway across the country it will 100% be shut down again. Don't ruin it for everyone else by being greedy. You don't need to travel 2000 mi to ski rn. Relax a little bit and let a month or two go by, and things will probably have cooled down enough where you can come and ski mid summer without it being a problem.
And if a few thousand people come as they usually do, at least one person WILL bring the virus into Oregon and start another outbreak, possibly in Govy where all the skiers will be.
skiindianaSeriously though fuck you. I'm so done with people letting me know what is ok or what is not ok. Are there flights to Oregon? Are the locals able to get reservations? Did the governor say no one from out of state allowed?
You and people like you should seriously considering minding your own business. 'ONE PERSON WILL BRING IT'. No fucking shit. Sitting inside is never going to change that. Even a vaccine is never going to change that.
If you want to act like a bunch of scared bitches, be my guest. But really, fuck you for telling me that I cannot follow the rules now but your morally superior ass thinks I can ski in mid-summer.
I forgot I need permission to do what I want.

tyrolLol I love that you think Timberline will ever give you an approved reservation. You aren't skiing in Oregon this summer unless you come out here and quarantine for 14 days. Unless you plan on flying with a fake ID you can be sure that they'll be checking flight info for out of state IDs and ensuring that this exact scenario, people flying from all over the country to ski without a quarantine, does not unfold. You are such a clown, if you are the troll I think you are you are the weakest troll this site has seen.
skiindianaYeah if their reservation system is not allowing anyone from out of state I will totally abide. It's their rules to make.
However, I'm not going to pretend a bunch of morally superior jackasses like yourself have any power over me whatsoever.

ski.loonWould you have any interest in doing a podcast type debate? I would love to chat about this and share it with NS - of course would want to keep it civil
The referenced post has been removed.
skiindianaI love the new trend of scared bitches not understanding data and thinking they're better than everyone because they're a bunch of scared bitches.
You guys are going to judge everyone for living life until the news tells you its ok. Only then will it be 'ok' to go about your day. I for one will just ask your bitch ass for permission to do what I want.

SnowshoeThompsontruuuu.
they will not have a terrain park initially to stop “risk” of injuries.. this alone makes ITV kinda pointless for me. Also seems like a waste of time for people to have to reserve individual days when the weather is so hit or miss during spring. Hoping these guidelines chill out a bit in the next couple weeks.
KevskiLegitimately can’t tell if you’re just trolling at this point.
You say you’re all up for freedom but you ask the mods to delete your thread when the discussion doesn’t go as you prescribed. You put COVID in the thread title what did you think was going to happen?
You suggest you drive an argument on data but cannot refute any follow-up facts that are positioned against you.
You call people selfish for encouraging temporary sacrifices to save others, yet deny that it’s selfish to put others at risk for ones own pleasure.
You repeatedly claim one person (or government or body of scientists) doesn’t have the right to make a decision for everyone, yet the behaviour you’re defending does exactly that.
You resort to name calling and childish labels to those who disagree, yet you try to discredit people for being judgemental.
We have some obvious differences in values and I’d be surprised if you ever changed your mind at all. But as far as I’m concerned you’re not making much of a case for what you believe in and I’m not sure you’re even trying any more.
Anyways, Whistler usually closes up shop at the end of May (and is empty for the month anyway), and with all municipalities in the sea to sky region still asking travellers to stay away I don’t foresee any skiing starting up till fall. I imagine this travel request will be lifted by summer, but likely too late for any value in opening resort operations, especially with the heavy reliance on international employees and visitors.
skiindianaLol dude seriously go fuck yourself. I'm not addressing all this nonsense. Yes, wanting a thread of pansy ass bitches deleted is exactly the same as following the law and not being a pansy ass bitch.
And dude it is 100% not much fucking job to 'save others'. If people are scared they can stay the fuck inside. You're not entitled to my behavior. Worry about yourself.
My argument is I'm going to do whatever the fuck I want and you cannot stop me. I'm done pretending I care what people like you think or bending to your bitch ass nonsense.
The whole 'we have different values' is such morally superior bullshit. Yes, I am wayyyy worse of a person than you. You're fucking awesome man. I love how cool you are. I'm going to continue being a piece of shit. Fuck you and everyone like you
JAHBRADORIf you are any older than like 14/15, you got some serious problems man.
skiindianaOh yeah please tell me about how I have problems because a bunch of people are telling me what to do and I'm telling them to fuck off.
I am wayyyy fucking done with all you people who want to tell everyone the 'right' way to do things. Go fuck yourself. Stay inside. I'm going out.

Film. They all wear masks alone in their cars.
skiindiana*I cannot think for myself so I need to people to tell me what to do. It is very important that we all follow what you say, because you and the government and the media ALL know better than my dumbass.
*(context- sarcasm)
skiindianaI'll follow the rules put out by states and mountains.
OCoffeyThis thread has gone beyond off topic
skiindianaCould a mod just kill this thread? You all are insufferable
Thank you to those killing everyone because they wore a mask at a grocery store and thank you to those saving lives when they wore a mask to the grocery store.
You all are 100% correct. Please continue to argue on a thread about resorts

skiindianaYeah dude thanks again. I really needed someone to tell me what is excessive or not AND also need someone to tell me if it is right or wrong to be excessive.
I cannot think for myself so I need to people to tell me what to do. It is very important that we all follow what you say, because you and the government and the media ALL know better than my dumbass.
I'm going to call you tomorrow to see if its cool to go outside. WITH A MASK OF COURSEEEE
theabortionatorIt seems like the people who don't live in the mountains are the most up tight about this. Sure different opinions are everywhere, but some of these posts read like what the bay area and LA guys have been posting on facebook out here.
It's my skiing and I want it now, call JG Wentworth and shit.
Would some people have skied a bunch more in spring, maybe. But not that many. I feel that it's less about the turns and more about "Fuck you I do what I want" which is unfortunately all too American.
I should drop a snowbank pile of slush in a parking lot and post "Nobody from out of town/out of state is allowed to ski it" Post a picture getting a sick 3 second run with all the freshest hashtags and wait.
Wut!!!!?!?!?!? You can't tell me I cant fly from florida to ski that!!! You don't friggin own it! This is America! I haven't even skied in 3 years but I'll be damned if some douchebag liberal mountain town asshole is gonna stop me from exercising my rights as a god damn American.
And crack a beer and wait for everyone to show up.
Idk, i get it, this quaranting sucks, people wanna ski, but shit is getting out of hand.
On the plus I've learned something about ski resort marketing from this. Don't attract customers with cheap deals and advertising. Simply say "locals only" etc and wait for the caravan of angry people ready to spend too much to take some laps.
Idk. Errbody needs to smoke a bowl, drink a beer or something and chill out. We're halfway through may. Get the golf clubs out and hit the local course or something. Maybe yell at the kids in the neighborhood for playing baseball in the street or riding their bikes on your lawn. Hell that's like 10 times the fun of skiing without even having to leave your porch.
20/21 will be here soon enough.
abar.Sold out in 10 seconds
skiindianaNevermind I read you wrong. But nothing I wrote was about 'locals' only or anything about rules mountains have put in place. I'm literally only talking about bitch ass people who want to tell me what they think is 'right'.

theabortionatorEveryone that doesn't even ski now driving up from the Bay, people prolly driving further or flying as well just to get some turns in because they can't. Meh.
I get skiing, I get that we all wanna get out there, but this situation is pretty beat. Unfortunately well be having the same argument in July that some mtn that still has a 10' by 100' patch of snow should reopen etc.
Something something freedom no step on snek.
SnowshoeThompsonComing from the guy that goes to the Southern Hemisphere to chase winter every summer. haha get outa here mr.
hood is always popping and spring skiing is the best. yolo.
I’m coming over to ur house and going to make you start drinking again.
theabortionatorWhat does tha have to do with anything? If anything it makes my point more valid. I actually ride the fuck out of spring. Thwn I go down south for that winter.
If anything I should be frothing for it but I'm pretty chill and understanding. The guys that maybe ski 1 or 2 late spring days don't have much of an argument here.
Also my spring skiing dipped on March 14. My southern hem season isn't happening. But this situation is bigger than me and getting some turns in. I'll be alright.
Was also supposed to be at hood the last week and next couple of weeks with friends. Had 11 comps I'm wasting by not being able to ski end of season locally and was going to get a comp to ride mammoth for the first time.
But whatever. Shit happens people need to deal with it. The entitlement and douchery ever since this whole this started has been next level especially from the dad types that don't live in ski towns.
Obviously newschoolers has more people that drive to ski small amounts of snow. We used to drive 3.5 hours sometimes to set uo rails in the pioe at mt snow. People ride summer setups and urban all off season. But a few people on here and a large chunk of the people freaking out on facebook have been those that barely even get out in spring.
And some of the comments they dropped to these mtns were some of the douchiest I've ever seen in the skiing community. I'm just over hearing people whine about it.
As far as arguing in this thread I've honestly got nothing better to do. People are going to do whatever but I have no problem calling them out.
skiindianaYour argument is essentially I'm hyped, but I'm hyped for the 'right' reasons while everyone else who is hyped is not hyped for the 'right' reasons.
Cool bro. Please tell me more about how hyped I should be, when I should be hyped, and which mountains I should go to. You're moral superiority is something I can only strive to
theabortionatorHoly shit dude. You and all the dad types from the bay and LA have so much in common.
That's why I brought up the localism thing because that was some of their argument. You're on the same page just saying it differently.
I live around a bunch of ski areas and I'm not skiing right now. I'm fine with that. All the kooks from the flatlanders are the ones up in arms about it. If that wasn't the situation my local hills prolly could have been open but it's whatever.
This is "locals only" this isn't "my hype is better than your hype", this is just me tired of people whining and screaming at people saying "Fuck you, you can't tell me what to do" like you were in earlier posts and all these dad types on facebook were.
Like I said do whatever you want because obviously you're the only person in your world that matters. Send it bru
skiindianaI am the only person that matter to me, thankfully people like you are out there caring about everyone, while people like me are just awful. Thank again for letting me know how my 'type' isn't as cool as your 'type'. I'm sure when you ski it'll be awesome
But the people doing it now, shame, shame on them
