FruitBootProYo that was some nice ass filming, how do you 4 out so fast? Lol
Try learning some other grinds bc that's where the fun really begins

Check that out
DesertStixAny skates you’re going to “grind” will have a groove in between the middle wheels locking the skate in place. This feels nothing like sliding a rail on skis
SavageBiffThis wasn’t true in the past, I skated vert from 92-2000, took the plastic slider off my blades replaced with a metal one, the metal one only had a beveled edge no groove, if I could do the stuff on skis that I did on blades then😤, too scared for rails nowadays, shirt hurts
Also have to say I both agree and disagree about blade grinds helping sliding rails with skis. I think it can help you develop a basis for developing your balance, also prepare the mind and give you some experience sliding and maintaining your core/aft, however it’s severely different and skis are longer and heavier, I don’t think it will make you better but could def prepare you for learning. I used to be able to do any skate grind, and I can’t slide a fuckin box, I mean I only tried once and was so surprised by the lack of friction I went straight to my ribs, I tail tap rails now as I pop over them, no I don’t use the lil mini jumps I can pop over a donkey.
DesertStixThat’s pretty hard core. I did it for a few years in the early 2000’s because I played roller hockey and it was a natural transition. All the skates at that point had the plastic sliders or people would just straight up remove wheels and sliders to have minimal friction but you couldn’t really skate well on only 2 wheels. Then I picked up a skateboard and never looked back lol
I agree there are some similarities like I would say air awareness (airing out of a bowl to flat is kinda like a side hit etc) and body rotations would most likely get better from inline skating. I just know that any time I put on my ice skates (similar feeling to blades) the effective edge is soooo much shorter that I’m like falling forward and backwards during warm ups then the muscle memory kicks in so you’re right about long heavy skis not really being replicated in skates.
I hit my first real rails this season at 32.
SavageBiffMy spring transition from skiing to skating and pickup hockey has me skating kinda overpowered and wonky, after a few hours it’s all good. I think hockey and rollerblading is good for some of the muscles used skiing, plus I still do 360s on skates and skate backwards which keeps me kinda ready for ski season, won’t catch me spinning on a bmx or mtb no more tho. Big air transitions ramp gap ramp and wall rides really helped me develop air control when I was young, skating on wood and ice gives ya guts when ya eat shit too, ooohhh the burns 🥵 lol
a_pla5tic_bagYou guys have to bend your knees, they're not ski boots.
