Anyone know shit about Quebec?

Hey, a couple friends and I are planning a camping trip to Quebec next year around July, anyone know some good cliff diving, hiking, and other cheap or free outdoor shit to do?

Chic chocs are beautiful, would recommend a winter trip peep ski the east for more on that. I’m gonna be honest I’d rather camp in Maine, that being said Quebec City is Amazing, in the city they will honor your English for your money and serve you endless amounts of alcohol , also beautiful scenery and architecture as well. Out side the city English is offensive as said earlier so that French friend will help a lot. The country side of the city is pretty mountainous So you could hike there , looked pretty nice. But the city is quite lively also you get that American discount because your cash is worth $1.41 There cash and the price increase isn’t noticeable

Baxter is my favorite place on planet earth - if you can get a reservation I highly recommend it. That said...

... I lived in Northeast Harbor last year and it's a wicked cool spot. Happy to send recommendations for either area!

Honestly have no idea, we would like to see the city while up there, if we decide to go, we would be driving up from Maine, and would be willing to drive up to 10 hours to get somewhere. (For reference, it takes me 5 and half hours to get to the city)

Quebec is a huge province.

If you want to see the city, Montreal is the best bet.
decent outdoors area relatively close by for your camping.

You could even hit the water ramps in beauport if you'd wanna get some skiing in.

I played a hockey tournament in Quebec when I was like 12 or 13. Such a cool city, they had a dope ass tubing park and a frozen river system you can ice skate on which was the highlight for me.
I realize this doesn't help OP since you're going in July but I don't give a fuck that place is the kitties titties

Im from Quebec City. Personally, I would never live there again. But I highly recommend to visit the place; there is a lot of history in the cities, where the architecture shows the past. There is no reason to be bored out there... but bring cash, not much is free out there...
Check out the water ramps in Lac Beauport, 45min north of Quebec City. I think they are still accessible to the public.
You must get climbing permits from the climbing association to climb at their locations.
Mt St. Anne is the rowdiest downhill trails Ive even ridden on a bike, and I live in Nelson BC.
Find the "hole in the wall" bars in the city, they actually have the best atmospheres to meet people.
Try speaking French when you are out there; its not essential, but you will get way better reactions from everyone. They will use english to help you out if you are putting an effort into actually speaking it.

quebec is like the bayou of canada. if you get the vibe that they don't want you around it's cause they don't. obviously this is a generalization but don't be surprised if someone puts a brick through your window in a public parking lot for no reason at all. it happens all the time with ontario plated cars. aside from the surliness of the people, it's a pretty beautiful province.

great place to get covid too lmao nearly double the cases and deaths of the next lowest province

- speak French as much as possible it’s a good opportunity to learn
- don’t be a stereotypical American (or Canadian anglophone) I.e. loud and obnoxious, littering, obviously breaking laws. things are much more quiet and orderly there than the US for sure (in general). People follow the rules a lot more.
- if you’re not from there you will stick out like a sore thumb
- there are a lot of friendly people but also you will get dirty looks and get hated on by some people especially the older generation. They have their own culture that they are trying to preserve and view anglophones as slowly diluting and destroying that culture. If you respect that you will be fine.

Not even that bad a drive. At least it's pretty. I would recommend the Gaspe Peninsula/ Chic Chocs too. Quebec is a huge province (bigger than many countries) with lots of wilderness, parks, trails, lakes, you name it.
