The length of pasta I'm eating?

hey nsg

how much spaghetti do you think would be in a big bowl (length wise)? like a city block? less? more?
i mean a dry piece of spaghetti is about 22-25cm (40-55inches) so that means if you cook it it would get a bit longer and so if you had maybe 40 pieces of spaghetti you would have like almost a km of pasta right?

I like to call it pasketti cuz its more fun that way. sometimes I dont even make it thorugh the cooking process and end just eatign pain pasketti directly from the strainer after cooking it.

Just do it by weight.

Cut exactly 1 cm of cooked spaghetti and weigh it to get your length per gram ratio. Then just weigh however much pasta is in your bowl and convert accordingly.

if you split spaghetti in half, theres twice the amount now than last time. So your method wouldn't work here

A coworker once ran out of the bathroom laughing so hard he was crying. Said he got super scared when he started to think he was shitting out a tapeworm, so we went to pull it out but it was just a 10in long pad thai noodle instead

Just FYI your math is all jacked up right here. I'm no math major but last I checked 22-25cm equalled 9-10 inches so your pot of pasta might be a km long but I don't think you're approaching the mile mark. Time to get a bigger pot, like one of those crab boil sized kettles, then hit costco for a ten-pack of spaghetti.

40 spaghettis at 25cm in length each is not a kilometer, it's just 10 meters, or 0.01km.
You'd need 100 times more to make it one kilometer, or 4000 spaghettis.
If you want a mile, you'd need 1.6km, or 6400 spaghettis.

If you don't break it into smaller pieces the excess pasta overhanging the edge of the pot gets burned by the flame. I guess if you're a total squid who uses an electric stove you don't have that issue though.

I've never had the pasta burned by the flame, you're probably doing it wrong.
