New England Coronavirus Surfing

Moved here recently. Grew up surfing NJ, live in the Greater Boston area now. Anyone know if the north or south shore are open for surfing right now?

Thinking about checking out Nantasket tomorrow and/or Gloucester Saturday

I haven't heard anything, but I bet somewhere is open. Beaches up there can't be too crowded can they? It's mostly open here in NJ. Went last week, going tomorrow probably.

Up here in Maine all the beaches are closed and I think they will be for the next month, I heard NH beaches are too but they might open up earlier

Ended up going to Lynn. It was chill. Plenty of parking. Cops driving by didn't say anything. There were a couple other people out there.

Where in Lynn? I've heard Salisbury beach is the place to be but thats north of there I think

Kings Beach. I think I'm going again tomorrow. Maybe I'll go check Salisbury. Thanks for the recommendation

I was wrong about Maine, there are a few beaches up the coast open that I'm gonna go check out. Definitely get it the water today tho it's super nice and the waves are sick

See it a lot in Santa Cruz, fistfights and rocks through back windows are the typical manifestation. It's pretty garbage.

Drove up to Salisbury and it was pretty choppy so I went down to Crane Beach but it was closed. Ended up at Nahant. It was dope

Im not trying to fight I'm just saying lots of people are board and since quarantine started people that haven't picked up a board ever or since 2007 are out in the lineups and everyday locals definitely are not gonna take crap from kooks especially now.

it's not even bad here cali had straight gangs that would beat the shit outa people if they even paddled out. Personally as long as your not bothering people or putting others in danger it shouldn't be an issue. It's mostly middle aged dudes that wanna throw fists.

Thankfully the waves were big enough where I was to keep the kooks at bay but I see what you're saying. New England is definitely way less intense about localism than the west coast or Hawaii but I've still seen a couple fights break out over the years.

There hasn't been stuff super bad in RI but I remember a dad hit the local asshole in the head with a rock because he was coming at a ten year old pretty aggressively.
