little1337As much as Vail sucks, suing because you didn't get your moneys worth out of a season pass you had for more than 75% of the season and there happens to be a pandemic is fucking stupid.
LivingDaLifeThis is stupid, no one wins a lawsuit against Vail or Alterra. They have armies of lawyers. Even if they had a case (which they don't at all) then they would still lose.
SnowshoeThompsonYeah they do.
A couple Incline guys just won their case about the late paid parking announcement/refusing to refund passes.
After working there I have zero sympathy for those fucks. Half of our grooming crew wasn’t getting paid the first half of the season let alone all of our logged hours were incorrect.
mystery3That's kind of bait and switchy though.
I'm almost positive there is something written into the season pass fine print that delineates what constitutes a season and it's probably like ~80 days of ski mountain operations or something.
SnowshoeThompsonIt wasn’t a matter of the season being cut short.
Northstar made the decision to announce a new pay-to-park system in the village lot just a couple weeks before opening, coincidentally, right after the season pass sale had ended.
Pretty much If you don’t want to pay to park in the upper lots you have to park in the lower lot and shuttle a couple miles to the village and walk to the gondola.
Everyone lost their shit immediately and demanded refunds before the resort had even opened. They pretty much ghosted everyone and a riot ensued on their FB page.
it was pretty hilarious. People are still spamming their social media with parking puns.
SnowshoeThompsonAhh I see, I’m tripping
Yeah I don’t see that case really going anywhere with these circumstances. Not really their fault either.
Ikon is offering 200 dollars down 0 interest on their passes now which is kinda nice. Hopefully we have a season to look forward to come fall
DeebieSkeebiesMan its painful seeing how big of brats and babies skiers can get. Grow the fuck up people. What a silly allocation of resourcesWell

MoatUnionThis situation is complex.
I guess it puts me on the opposite side of eeveryone. Due to my job circumstances I ski for a full month end of march and april. It's the only time of the year I can take any vacation and live outside of the continental u.s.
I bought the pass just for that month. I'm aware of the offer for next season of 80% off but I personally want a refund instead as I'll be living in japan all of next year and working..
Just wondering what people think about my situation. The pass was completely unused for me...
ski.loonHonestly, you bought a non-refundable pass. It sucks, but you buy what you buy. If you knew that you weren't going to able to ski until later in the season and wanted 100 percent certainty, than you probably should have bought day tickets. I know they are outrageously expensive, but it's just tough shit. Sorry. The only people I feel bad for are the ones that bought pass insurance and still got screwed, but even that isn't on Epic.
MoatUnionJust for thought. If the whole season was cancelled due to something and you bought the pass you would be okay? That would be following the same logic of non refundable pass.
I actually think because of consumer laws this lawsuit will hold up if the attorney is half decent. My credit card has already sided with me and refunded me though.

Trumpkin2020If your credit card refunded you then fantastic.
In terms of your question I doubt anyone would be OK with a whole season being cancelled, however that's a totally different story than a single month being removed. The thing is you buy that pass knowing that seasons are fluid and anything can happen to shorten or lengthen a season. Banking on late season is risky and not comparable to an entire season being shut out.
broken_skier0Except, a lot of families ski two weeks a year. They take a one week trip around the Christmas/New Year's holidays and another in March during spring break. Cut out their spring break trip and they lost half their season.
Trumpkin2020Then buy day passes like everyone else
