Kastle, Elan, DPS. Old guy ski brands?

Pretty much this, sure Kastle makes great skis, but so do plenty of other brands that don't charge over a thousand bucks a pair.

They have zero social media presence that would pertain to this audience and the pricing puts it out of most reach. DPS are the dentist ski's for a reason.

The Koala 119 is one of the exceptions — very different than anything else they've made. I really hope they expand a line around that ski cause it's stupid fun.

DPS yes, but they are dumb expensive.

Blizzard and Nordica are good examples of dad ski brands that sell really well with other demographics, Elan and Kastle are good examples of dad ski brands with shitty marketing

I don't know about energetic (unless you weight 250+ lbs), but it's got a twin tip, -6 mount point, and it's heavy & stiff as hell. Somewhat similar to the Rossi Black Ops 118 in those regards — playful charger.

They brought on Dash Longe last season and he was the main person providing feedback on that ski design, and it definitely shows.

Elan used to have dope park skis. I had a pair for a season and they were mad durable and rode really nice. They put no work into marketing or had any sort of social media presence. That's why no one bought them but they could of got kids on their skis if they put any sort of effort into it.

This is facts, Elan made some really cool skis for a long time that Europe saw way more of. Same with Kastle, they had the twin tip ski range that was called BMX (I think?) and they were fun as hell. It’s all marketing and they chose to market to a different audience, so they stopped making the freestyle oriented skis

That dude tears. I know a girl who rides for them and shes said they've been awesome skis too. I have not enough money for them, and I'm wishing there was some ski I could get with more crud bashing ability but still the same playfulness I've found in lighter skis and it might be it.

It's unfortunate... The XX range were dope skis and super fun to ride but it was such a long shot to get the demographic that rides a 110 underfoot true twin to even look at consider Kastle. I think at the end of the day Elan/Kastle can't really leap back into the freeride/park market because the opportunity cost of launching a niche line and being able to support it from a marketing standpoint is just too much. Those who know the true difference in quality, and will be willing to pay for it don't need to be sold on those skis, so they seem to have just said fuck it.

I got some DPS wailer alchemist 99’s for an all around touring ski and I love them. They are light but can ski hard. I even cruise around the resort of them occasionally because they hold an edge well. That said, I got a pro deal and only paid $550 for the $1300 ski. I would not pay full price on any ski, let alone one over a grand! If you can get a pro deal, I think it’s worth it to pony up an extra $200 or so to get a better product.

I really hoped to get a set of ripstick 106's for touring but the price wasn't right. I saw a young lady absolutely ripping on them on mount rose last year with her dog... I was sold

Ha, cause it's my job. But I also typically spend 50-60 hours a week (more like 70-90 when we put together our Buyer's Guide) in front of a computer as the other part of that same job, so it's definitely not all just playing around, unfortunately.

Kastle BMX weren't twins. They had the XX line that was full twin.

I have the BMX 105s and FX95 HPs. Dads that rock these will steal ur line. Dads that rock MX99s will steal ur line and ur girl.

Kastle is the Porsche of skis yo. Worth every penny.
