SkierPTSo far so good. It was amazing to me what a different mindset and come-up Simon and Tom had. Polar opposite.
It also bothers me Simon seemed to ski for the money, fame and competition compared to most guys who ski because they love it.
Simon said many times halfpipe was like a 9-5 job for him. Compare that to Tanner Hall who loves skiing so much it’ll probably kill him eventually.
Cant wait until he can get Hall on there.

nmwninjartI listened to a couple episodes at work today. Overall I like it, great content, great people, great discussions.
I agree the intro is a bit wierd but that doesn't bother me as much as how he would not let his guests speak! ( at least on Wallisch and Colby ones I listened to ) He would ask a question and as soon as they started to speak he would jump in on them. Its like Simon and Tom were fighting eachother to speak. He let Colby have slightly more time but still did the same. I hope as these go on he calms down a bit.

JAHBRADORPersonally, the Powell Mvmnt is still the GOAT for skiing related podcasts. Feel like I find out a lot more about a guest when the interviewer refrains from interjecting with relatable stories or experiences they have had. It becomes much more the ‘Simon and Schlopy”podcast rather than the “SChlopy”. Same reason I find Joe Rogan harder to enjoy the more I listen as I have constant deja vu of anecdotes he has told multiple times before.
Will continue to to listen regardless as there really is nothing to do nowadays.
VT_scratchI love the Powell MVMNT but get tired of the rigid structure of his. Especially with so many of the skiers, I feel like I already have a rough understanding of their past. I could care less about, okay so mom and dad had enough money obviously to get you skiing, so they'd take you up to the hill every weekend, you stood out, and then you got your first sponsor?
I mean sure it's great to hear their path, but I wish they would just shoot the shit about the state of skiing, trends, comps, any and all things skiing related, and not have to follow a timeline. I mentioned this to him and he said he has considered it, but it would be a separate podcast- something like "shooting the shit with powell" or something.

JAHBRADORI should also add that i cannot stand the Low Pressure Pod. for this same reason. Huge cringe fest. Every. Fucking. Episode.

jjamsDon't think anyone has fully figured out the structure for skiing in apodcast medium. LPP can be great but feels very guest dependent, Powell ends up a bit too focused on money and can get a bit belligerent. Good to see more people trying out the medium. Level 1's pods were fantastic.

blackno offense to powell/LPP they seem like nice guys but I just can't really get into their stuff, because my first thought whenever they interrupt a guest is basicalyl "who tf even is this guy...? Let the actual skier speak" I would 10000x be more interested to hear a convo between Simon and Nick Martini than whoever the people are that run those podcasts, they don't have the mutual pro skier perspective

blackbut thats why I've been loving Simons podcast because I actually do have interest in the "me too" because....crazy concept for a ski podcast.....hes actually a skier haha! Powell/LPP just seem irrelevant af everytime they chime in. Again dont mean to bash those guys I'm sure a lot of people like listening, I just can't get into it

BagOTricksCurrently rehabbing an ACL injury so this pod came out at a perfect time. As someone who is going through injuries, hearing all of their injury stories somehow makes me feel better. Like I'm not alone and that it's possible to grind their way back. Even though most times the injuries are what end their career, it seems a lot of them bounced back and kept pushing the sport.
I really enjoy the podcast. Sometimes comp skiers seem like robots when you watch them on TV, so it's cool to get a glimpse of who they truly are and what their mindset was at the height of their career. Also interesting to see how many fell into dark places. Dumont being the host I think makes it perfect, because he knows he didn't love skiing, so he's really trying to get into the heads of guys that went through the wringer and still love the sport to figure out what makes them tick.
Can't wair for more episodes (Ski Boss is going to be so damn good).

The latest ep with Mason Aguirre made me entertain the possibility that these might be unedited continuous takes. sick if so.
