Your favorite local skier that never "made it"

Who's a skier that you really liked growing up and skied at your local mountain, and you thought could've "made it" in skiing, or didn't get the recognition he deserves?

I'll start with Nuka Choquette, he's from Montreal and skied at Mont Avila in Quebec. He reminds me of Khai Krepela, and think he could've gotten the same kind of hype as Khai did when he came up a few years ago if he had kept putting out stuff. To me his style is very unique and timeless, and probably the best "tight pants" style I've seen.

There was a dood at hyland when I was growing up who had bunch type style b4 bunch was a thing and skied park on pow skis and just was steezy as fuck. He wasn’t crazy talented but he inspired my style alot. Think he goes to msu or recently graduated. But ya him n paddy were big inspos.

Also when I was rlly young there was a dood who always killed it and would wear early 2000’s sammy c type kits or basketball jerseys. Think it mightve been allen lam but not sure. Anyways that was the first time I saw someone ski at a “pro” type lvl. Specifically I remember him hitting a sketchy hyland style s box that I was terrified of and tail buttering out of the 2nd half.

My buddy Danny. Dude was throwing dubs in like 07. Fearless kid prolly cause he was sending huge mx and mtn bike jumps as a kid. Had 9s and 10s and a sick style on a board.

Unfortunately shitty east coast hills are hard to get away from and eventually most people stop riding as much, or totally and get real jobs.

If there was anyone that I was friends with that I though for sure would blow up it was him. Still was dope though. We all had a damn good time riding.

I hope he still gets out each season. Im sure he still shreds.

Definitely could have gone pro, probably my favorite skier from Qc back in the days, and his edits would get a lot of attention on here

Friend of mine and inspiration by the name of Will Schooler. He was the definition of style. He was our hill's Hornbeck. He never really wanted to be Pro per say. He just wanted to ski.

After skiing our local hill and destroying features, he decided to go to a ski college in Nelson BC. He started riding Pow there and it was wicked to see someone with such a love for skiing.

I was signing up for our freestyle program when some friends of mine told me outside the lodge that he had died. He was hitting a handrail in Nelson and hit his head on the stairs and wasn't wearing a helmet. He was and still is one of by biggest influences for skiing. His Skis have been mounted into one of the trees at our hill's terrain park.

This kid Andreya I used to see around Vermont was real gnarly at skiing and then went to college and disappeared.

just playin, but theres a ton of kids on the east coast who could have made it big and didn’t, wheres Mcslay? Sam putnam?

Paddy Flanagan and Jank Drangis were always fun to watch when I was growing up at Hyland hills MN, so much style from both of them- definitely ahead of their time.

Not sure if this counts because he on was LTC, but I always thought cole drexler had the coolest style and best tapz, but I completely stopped seeing footage of him for years

Scott Nelson. Not sure that he ever was really trying to "make it", except maybe mogul skiing for longer than most...but his style and consistency was incredible. I was coaching slope while he was winning every contest in high school, you could tell he just had something different than everyone else

Clarification. ^^^ that post could be read differently. I had definitely seen some crazy skiing in movies here and there, but I had never been REALLY looking at these moves.. LUC will remain one of the GOATs in my mind.

He gave up professional skiing basically because he couldn't get paid enough to have a good quality of life and make the risk worth it. There's something to be said for moving on and having a bigger life than just constantly risking getting badly hurt while not making enough to live on.

Skierman for sure. Sad to see him now, trolling the forums, deluded of his own grandeur. Not sure how good he was at skiing, but could have had an orange name at his peak before his peers moved on.

Unfortunately I didn't grow up skiing like many of you did. I've really only gotten into the sport since I came back from overseas 4 years ago. The dude I think of who is a local who 'never made it pro' at the bird is probably Jack Pilot, but I may be totally wrong here and he was pro for awhile perhaps. Super awesome dude, just incredibly encouraging.

Tim Maney aka Tim Zilla.....Used to coach for the team I grew up skiing on and he was one of my main pipe skiing coaches....Dude taught kids a lifetime worth of lessons on how to have fun and ski the way you want to. Wont ever forget that impact. Thank you man.. Shouts out to the rest of the OG 4bi9 crew as well.

you dont even deserve my two cents especially after keegan commented and I know luc doesn't care whatsoever about this stuff but he was the farthest thing from a bunch fanboy. Those Luc Brown edits were from 2013-2014. Go watch Magnus superunknown from 2013 or his Less part from 2014 and tell me Luc was jacking his style.

coached with luke at sugarloaf one year and not only was he one of the sickest park skiers I've ever ridden with he is a super nice dude and incredibly humble. he was snowboarding with other homies most days we weren't coaching.

watching you guys and sean make this edit was one of the sickest things I'd ever seen go down in person, and it honestly changed the way I looked at skiing forever:

also for sugarloaf riders that I linked up with that year Henry Bonneau was always dropping hammers and Sean Mullins was super creative and sendy. Don't know if they ever dropped edits on here but they are some true soul riders.
