What are your opinions on helmets

Recently, I've been wondering what people's opinions are on wearing a helmet while skiing. I personally wear a helmet when I'm at any resort unless it's a warm spring day and I'm not hitting the park, but if I'm at home hitting the backyard setup I don't really feel a need to unless I'm trying anything stupid.

I used to always tell the “I never fall after 50 years of skiing” types who came into our shop that “nobody goes out expecting to need their helmet to do its job” and “it’s that one time something DOES happen that you’re glad you had a helmet”. Always account for the margin of error.

I honestly think helmets look better than just a hat. Without one, it looks like you've got huge eyes bulging out imo

that's assuming you're wearing goggles ig. And to be honest, I skied more days this season without goggles than with. Shades just feel so much better (unless its raining/snowing).
The argument for style of no helmet/no goggles is stronger than helmet/goggles IMO. No helmet and goggles looks pretty good still, prime examples being Wallisch and Durmont recently. I will admit that helmet/no goggles make you look like an uber gaper which is unfortunate because its basically my goto.

I agree that sunnies is the move unless its cold af or dumping but not wearing a helmet because you think it looks cool is fucking stupid. If you're used to nit wearing one, don't like it, idk add random reason, whatever. But not looking cool is not a great reason especially when so many people rock em these days and theres so much variety. Any competing pros have to wear them at times even.

Do whateber you want but don't forgo safety equipment just to look cool. Hell safety glasses in the shop look cheesy and can fog up but a piece of steel in your eye isn't super fun either.

Do whatever you want but because that's what you want not what you think is cool. Especially these daysm the last like 10 years pretty much all younger kids in park are forced to wear helmets so it's not some minority. Idk head injuries suck. Be safe

Nah G I meant helmet but no goggles, I actually really like the look of helmet but goggles messes with my vision and looks rlly weird imo.

This is true. I would say it definitely takes a lot of skill to pull of that look. Otherwise it looks gaper af.

Are you talking like only helmet but goggles on the side. Or helmet but no goggles at all.

I don’t wear a helmet. It feels better to ride without one imo, feels more freeing. I have never worn a helmet so that’s maybe why. Not wearing one keeps me on my toes and reels in the sendometer. It makes me really calculate things that do and asses the risk appropriately. On the few occasions I have worn a helmet I have overconfidence and actually end up getting hurt and hitting my head.

I would however wear one if I was hitting park in mid winter when it was bulletproof and -20 out but I never do this these days as I’m too busy skiing pow.

I would never tell anyone that wearing a helmet is dumb.

inb4 protect your brain, eg. Etc.
