skiP.E.I.That's super dope. Is it a reduction print or do you have separate blocks for each colour that you register to print?
I would love to see one with a flat colour printed first, like a super subtle light pink or blue just so it pops off the background more instead of using the paper for white.
Also do you have your own press or are you hand burnishing?
thanks man, yes it's a woodblock reduction print. i originally had planned 2 blocks but i wanted the registration to be pretty exact for small details, so i cut it twice.
that would be great, i like it a lot, i'll try and incorporate into a future print. i have a lot of ideas to try out as i just started learning printmaking this last year, limited supplies rn i need to order an RGB ink set and extender so i can get more colors, atm i only have those two colors in the print, a burnt sienna and black. also some more carving tools, only have a small v gouge and medium u gouge. hopefully can sell some pieces so i can buy more materials, thinking about opening an etsy.
yes, hand pulled. i use a cheap baren that's a dried bamboo leaf wrapped around cardboard. most of my tools are japanese cause i order from a site that imports a bunch of stuff. interested in engraving tools though too. maybe one day it would be a fun project to try and build a press.
