Corrugated Tube Tips

I've been hiking a corrugated tube for a couple days now and was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to not eat shot by catching your edge.

No real tip on the ski side but...

Metal holds up better but most people have plastic. Also the gaps are bigget and gnarlier on plasric sometime.

If it's a fully round one I'd start by flinding the least fucked side to put up. Also make sure you're at least somewhat detuned. Once a plastic gets torn up it'll always be a lil sketch especially if you have edges.

Most mtns won't run them for public because they get thrashed. Especially when people with sharp edges are slamming into them.

You kinda have to curl you front edges up while sliding it normally. If it’s the kind of corrugated tube with the big ass gaps in between then just do 5050 tricks because you’re just gonna get whipped as soon as you try to hit it sideways

Yo fuck corrugated tubes you slide a new one a couple times that looks pretty nice and ur like oh this isnt that bad. Do a couple 270 on no problem than one day on a chill railslide BOOM. Absolute death. I hate those cocksuckers. Always get uou when you least expect it

lol idk what y'all are talking about, my home mountain used to cover the magic carpets with them and for the first month of the season that was like the only rail features we had, learned pretty much all the basic tricks on them

the key is to use either 18 or 24in diameter ones, any thinner and they break, bigger and the gaps are too hard to slide over

Easy, Eliminate your edges. Get them "Detuned". Errybody doin' it. Depending where you live, some places will know what you mean, and just do it for you. Other places are antiquated and lack the general knowledge of Steezing. Just call ahead of time and ask if they're familiar with the process.

Beware, it does turn your skis into like a "Tokyo Drift" type ski... Personally I'll never ski any other way. I just love the way they handle with no edges. I can be spinning and/or sliding side to side pretty much anywhere. You can still dig in for some carving tho. (for reference i have AR7s idk what you have)

Angle of tube shouldnt really matter but idk what the tube is like. I've done Upwards, Downwards, and straight flat. Try lubing it with skate wax or like spam or something lol

The steeper you make it the easier it will be to slide since (vertically) the gaps are smaller. Make sure you open up the face or your skis when you slide it, I've gotten caught up on one and it's not fun

I absolutely love these things. My home mountain has like 30 of them. Its honestly just like a rail maybe get a little more speed. Theres no reason to lean back farther you wont catch an edge. There really good to learn swaps and spins on before you take those tricks the the rails.

I learned so many rail tricks in one day by setting up a corrugated tube outside of my dorm. Super easy to grip for swaps. I just set it up as a slight down tube and didn't catch my edge once.

Okay I see where you're coming from. I need to find me a tube that has way smaller gaps because the gaps on the one I found were wayy bigger

Yeah you'd be surprised how small you need the gaps, it's reeeeally easy to get caught up on them

Dope. One with that size of spacing would be a lot easier. And it kinda makes sense on the “easier to grip” thing just because sometimes if rails are super slick they’re a little harder to swap on, but “slower” rails are nice for swaps
