On the gondola... what do you do with your skis...

So my skis don’t fit in the slots on the outside of the gondola at most places, my first time I brought them inside 😂🤣 they’re 193s so they didn’t fit well , was clunky , fumbly Jerry , even laughed at myself, now I put one ski per slot, some peeps seem to be aggregated cause their thin lil groomer skis fit, I’ve even had this problem with barely rockered twins , so is this what everyone does?

The first time I showed up in Whistler w/ Hellbents I had about 3 seconds of panic and running around to decide what to do while the rest of my group and the 400 people behind me and the handful of staff are like WTF is this guys problem?? They went in like snowboards all wigged our because of the rocker I spent the whole ride staring at them like those have about a 10 percent chance of staying put through this ride...

Have do do one ski per slot as you say. It's terrifying though because they wabble all around and even scarier with long skis because a greater percent is above the slot. Nothing like staring at your skis the entire ride up as they sway rapidly back and forth. Fuck

I think gondolas are the most stressful thing in skiing. I always feel like I"m going too slow and it's gonna take off with my skis or that my skis are gonna fall out.

I just try to avoid gondolas, lifts are just so much easier. In lake louise the gondola line is massive while the lift is like straight through 90% of the time, id rather take 2 lifts then wait in like and sit in a box

I thought they were supposed to have some sort of caddy that puts them in the sketchy slot for you unless you are in one of those huge cabins like they have to take you up to basecamp at Squaw

Mammoth gondola they separate the skis and shove them in with the tails touching, as they go in they get more room so they end up being able to be put together...scares tf out of me especially spring when the first half of the ride is all dirt

What a bunch of pansies. You all sound like snowboarders who bring their boards inside because “it’s gonna blow away.” Jam them in the slots, unless you have massive skis you can get them both in one slot. I’ve never seen anything blow off a gondola before under normal circumstances

jam them in there.. one gondola in Austria had too narrow of slots I couldn’t get my skis in, split them into 2 slots and 1 literally blew away half way up the ride. Recovered the ski but never splitting them up unless it’s dead calm

super windy there too. I wonder how often stuff blows off at Mammoth

Just split them up. It gets a little hard when everyone in the gondola has twin tips, but we figure it out

Pretty sure doing exactly this is a rite of passage for us skiers. Did exactly the same as Les Deux Alps in France the first time. Such a jerry.

There is literally nothing more terrifying than that. First time I went on a gondola, this happened to me and I was sweating by the time I got off.

unless your whips are > 105 underfoot, you can usually squeeze two in a slot. Just put one ski in first with the bindings facing the gondola and then the second one should slide in fine.

anybody had the gondola power drop and go onto emergency generator before. Its fucking terrifying. At Kicking Horse in BC it did that and drop a solid 12 feet before slowy crawling up the mountian

You take 'em in with you on the gondola at Squaw. I didn't have my Noctas at whistler but yeah side by side in the snowboard slot or one in separate slots I think are the only options.
