What ski is believed to have the most bulletproof edges?

For edges to be invincible they’d have to be 4mm wide or something absurd. ON3P has great edge life, any edges life can be improved upon (as far as rail skiing) with a detune but it’s honestly inevitable

The way that they construct their skis is really focused on durability, @iggyskier could tell you more about it.

on3p and armada bdogs too seem to have pretty good edge durability.

There are two primary edge suppliers for the entire world. We're all using similar edges - the only real variation is thickness and width.

A lot of people list their edge width as the standard (2.2mm edge) but that is just the width of the edge, not the thickness (which is normally 2.0mm).

We tend to have more life on our edges because we use 2.5mm x 2.5mm edges - so just larger, but even that edge - literally the thickest edge in the world I can buy - it's just a 2.5mm x 2.5mm piece of metal. You are slamming that with thousands of pounds of force, heating it, cooling it, over and over and over, and there is only so much you can do to make park skis last.

So - yes - while I find that vast majority of most people have more life on our skis than others with thinner edges (not always the case, I've seem people crush through our edges fast too) - the reality is the answer to this question:

is no. Skis are a consumable product. Park skis have a shorter life cycle specifically from rails.

Production quality is a factor in durability as a ski as a whole - and that presents in edges too - but again, in the never ending battle of ski edge vs rail, rail is undefeated.

We've looked at thicker edges, but outside of the volume needed to produce them (it takes 4 months start to finish to make ski edges and would require tens of thousands of skis to do), the thickness of base the ski would require would make the ski very dead.

I have my own personal thoughts on how to increase durability on park skis - we're (and others) are trying - but will withhold any thoughts there while we continue to prototype various options.

In the meantime, people need to recognize that after 20 years of people blowing edges out, that just is where the tech currently is. The fail rate on an edge that hits rails - over time - is 100%.

One last thing. I need to stress that, as a whole, park skis are a tiny part of the market. That is why - in terms of manufacturing - the resource we have available to address this is pretty limited. I don't see that changing anytime soon, too. That said, hopefully we figure it out.

In the meantime, maintain your skis. Water is enemy number one and actually keeping it from getting in your skis will go a long way towards making your skis last (we literally have guys in here on year 5 now on their park skis).

out of all the skis i have ridden, i found the edges lasted the longest on my Armada Ar7s and Armada AR zeros. Granted the edge did come out of the Ar7 over time. these two models have also been the ones that ive put through hell and back and still come back for more. My Ar7 2015s lasted 4 whole seasons and still are in decent shape (minus the edge is now gone)

As others have said in this post. if you ski park, expect your edges to be gone
