He gets hate cause he does big spins on and big spins off and that’s about it. Crazy talented and is the only one who can do a lot of those mad tricks. X game’s normally values spins over style so sucks that he doesn’t get judges favor tho.

I was disappointed his real ski edit didn't impress me more. Hella impressive, don't get me wrong, and a pleasure to watch, but with respect to the other edits that were crazy as well I don't personally think it should get a podium spot. I feel like with his skills and uniqueness he definitely has the potential to podium and even take gold in real ski, but I don't think his edit this year quite topped out the likes of Mango or Hackel.

No doubt he has the ability to get an XGames medal, he got so close in norway to taking one for both slopestyle and knuckle huck, but at that level you've got to beat out all of the world's bests, which is, needlessly to say, extremely difficult to do, even if you are one of the world's bests yourself.

If you're as good as Jesper Tjader and you're in the game for long enough, you will podium at an XGames event. Hell, it took an Alex Hall switch tail butter dub 14 off of a knuckle to take a medal away from him in Norway. I think by the end of his career he'll have at least one or two XGames medals in his trophy case.

Either way, he's a sick skier that has undoubtedly progressed the sport by doing stuff on skis that I wouldn't think was possible. And, for all he's done, I'm rooting for him to be able to put an XGames medal or two around his neck.

True, but it's kind of nice to have real ski be more style oriented and give some of the lesser known but steezy kids gain some recognition/ gives skiers who are already super stylish a time to show it.

I'm a big fan of Jesper's skiing, and I do think he gets underscored in slopestyle (especially in the US) but I can understand why he's not gonna be the man in Real Ski.

At the start of Unrailistic 2 he talks about imagining new tricks, and then designing the feature that will hopefully make the trick doable. This is the literal opposite of what street is.....the culture & aesthetic is focused on seeing the environment you're given in a unique way, and then you design the trick to express that vision.

It's rad that X Games gave him a spot in Real Ski, and his clips in Supervention already proved he's talented enough to be there. But there's a black & white contrast between his edit and Hackel's for example.

Ugh, that's the swerviest thing I've ever read. Why does skiing have to be methodical and have deeper meaning? Can't you swerve skiers just be like "I like doing butters" rather than "releasing my inner butterfly"?

I'll say it another way then; when I look at some of the spots in Jesper's edit, he does the first trick I would imagine him doing there. When I look at some of the spots in Hackel's edit, I can't imagine anyone doing the trick he does there.

Lol old head ass. You he’s just saying that you let the spot dictate the trick. Instead of being like “I need to lip disaster 4 for my part” and looking all over the city for a huge dfd. Lip 4 is sick but there are dfd all over and the creativity doesn’t match the difficultly.

I love Jesper and have been a fan since his early days on youtube. I think he fills a certain niche as a skier (Super technical tricks on and off rails) which is really sweet and progresses the sport. The problem is it puts him in a strange place in comps like slopestyle where rails are kind of something you just dont fall off to get to the jumps. The other issue is the film aspect has changed so its not like he can get a segment with a more major film company like Poor Boyz. I kind of see him like a modern Charley Ager. He has a crazy style and is doing new things to push the sport but in a way that does not translate well to the normal comp scene.

kind of upsets me that i dont think he or Oystein will ever Gold in big air or (maybe) even slopestyle again because they're matching on rails for the most part but throwing extremely tech dubs instead of tiples at the bottom. but hey, A-hall manages gold with dubs so who's to say, that's just how it's felt for the past 2 years since oystein cleaned up slopestyle in both x games locations. also, jesper was in 1st place in knuckle huck until the very end, that sw dub back was mental regardless of your opinion on parkour

Lol. Jesper's been slaying the streets long before he signed with Red Bull. You'd know this if you watched the Field Productions movies from early 2010's. IMO he's a top 20 street skier of all time, definitely deserved the invite over the """"hundreds""" of others.

He's been punished by some of the unspoken rules of Xgames judging, and that was made extremely clear this season. In euro slope he laced up some crazy technical rail lines, but judging is always biased towards jumps. Solid rails + technical jumps will always beat highly technical rails + solid jumps. Then in knuckle-huck the opaqueness around the new judging system screwed him over. Its not clear what is actually rewarded; consistency of tricks, diversity of tricks, or one big banger at the end. IMO he was the best overall, but Alex had the single best trick.

Yo xgames REAL STREET is literally here to satisfy our love of new wave skiing. Just look at the names that are in the contest every year. Watching jesper do lip 4’s and backflip everything is super sick and gnarly but it kinda defeats the purpose of the whole contest hahah. Urban skiing is about creativity and being unique and I swear he did like 6 backflips

I think they reward AHalls buick grab (who chose that dumb name anyway, no one likes boomer cars). It was unique at first, but it's all he does and doesn't seem that hard to beat out a bunch of actually good looking triples now.

Jesper doesn't need comp results to be a successful pro skier. He has made some of the most mind blowing video parts ever. He has that Red Bull cash flow to do about whatever he wants in skiing. It's always sick seeing him compete though. His blender dubs and "pretzel" dub in big air were dope, not to mention the spider rail.
It's not fair to say he has no style though- he's super smooth. People just say that because of his clinical precision.

It is an insult to affiliate past competitors like JF, LJ, Vila and Wallisch to this new wave shit... It is just your perception of the competition. I get that there was not enough arm waving in Jesper's edit, but he still did his own thing, which was unique. Doing gnarly stuff is a big part of urban skiing. But it's whatever, you prolly base your opinion on the Bunch movies and have not seen a single Stept film.

fuck go pro for street skiing.

1) that shit hurt my head with the 360 view bullshit and transitions. subtle motion sickness.
2) ruined most shots. made all the spots look smaller/less gnarly. especially that kink rail with gaps in it.
3) his part was overall really good. his pants not being skin tight makes his skiing look better. camera ruined it.
