animator@tomPietrowski could probably give more insight to this but gripwalk is a) easy for binding companies to accommodate (e.g. add an adjustable AFD/gripwalk specific AFD) and b) vastly improves grip and walking stride (GripWalk, see what they did there?). I’ve seen a lot of New Years stuff and 90% of it has GripWalk. It took me a little while to come around but having now owned a pair with GripWalk since the beginning of this season, I’m convinced. Mostly the only boots next year that won’t have them are race boots and really entry-level boots. Seems like most companies are going that direction for sure!
TurnfarmerIn 2 years all boots will have grip walk but it won't be called grip walk anymore it will be rolled out as a new ISO norm and will look a lot like group walk. As far as bindings go anything MNC or ID will be compatible.
Hopefully this will fix some of the outliers that still don't lay well together.
DolanReloadedGroup walk?
was this an autocorrect fail or is group walk a thing?
Crispy.Boots with gripwalk sit higher than traditional boot soles (the bottom of your foot is further from the snow). How do people feel this affects skiing performance? Do the benefits of the GripWalk outweigh this? I for one really like feeling as close to my ski as possible and feeling the ski flex most naturally, but I haven't had the chance to experiment with and without GripWalk yet. I just got a pair of boots with removable GripWalk soles; debating on whether to leave them on or take them off. Thoughts?
onenerdykidThey stand higher & more upright on a flat surface (i.e. floor), but when they are in the binding they yield the same ramp angle and forward lean as ISO 5355
rubberpantaloonsso they behave the same while skiing as a standard boot then? always wondered about that.

onenerdykidCorrect - when you ski a GripWalk sole and a dual density ISO 5355 sole, you will not feel any difference whatsoever.
PoikenzBut a racer would feel a difference? Or is the lack of change for race boots simply because some boot mods like angled soles aren't possible with gripwalk?
