Edges are sharp. I'm always worried that I'm gonna slip while brushing and slice my wrist open. I've seen the pivot photos of crushed fingers. Iron burns aren't fun.
What's your worst injury from working on your skis?
Buddy had a freak accident coming off the chairlift - he tumbled off the chair at the top and the other person getting off the chair rode over his leg (both snowboarders, kid who ran his leg over was also new). Cut all but one artery in the leg, I guess 2 of 3 major ones, almost lost the whole lower leg. All the nerves and tendons are cut too so he has what is known as club foot and can’t flex his ankle. Shit was cut to the bone, nearly bled out too. Happened all in 10 seconds or so as well
I realize now you were lookin for acccidents while workin on skis but I misread, either way it’s a story regarding how scary edges can be

racers kill people
i did a base repair on a customers skis, i started to wipe the p-tex scrapes off the ski to get to the belt grinder and sliced my finger to the gnarled up edge the skis had. my first edge cut out of two ever and it was a deep one.
iron burns happen also on a weekly basis to our crew at our service.

Tuning for over 20 years. Never any injury.
Wear gloves.
A burred edge will cut you. A good polished edge without burs should not.
Managed to drip molten P-Tex on the top of my foot while patching my bases barefoot in the garage. Took all the skin with it when I peeled it off. I never patch or wax barefoot now.

Well since this thread has turned into a ski edge injury thread, here you go. I was in fact snowboarding and had no idea what I was doing. I was going through a mini jump line and crashed into a skier that was in the landing of the jump. That's what I get for snowboarding.
