Videos are up. Mango and Hackel stood out to me and I typically don't go for the swerve. Also holy fuck Jesper with some tech, also thought his had the best editing.

Who said COVID cancelled all sports content.

Mango/Hackel 1 and 2 with Jesper in 3rd. Thats not to say that Emile's wasn't gas either though and Noahs/ Zahner wouldn't be favorite parts in most movies. This was a sick year for entries but I think hackel/mango brought a blend of technicality and innovation that the others didnt. Gonna need a bunch more rewatches for sure

Overall I feel Hackel wins ,Mango second and Emile third. All three had style, creativity, originality, tech and a big factor as well. Those 5 are key for what I look at. Out of those three Hackel's has the best feel. The aesthetic is there and the whole flow of the edit is smooth yet jaw dropping at the same time. Song choice was on point and filming and editing were stellar. The transitions and flow made it perfect to watch and spot selection was also top notch.

Mango is an ex us ski team pipe guy and podiumed at a hella big air event a bit ago.

Not only can he dub but he can dub in a pipe. He is mad underrated as far as the average person knowing his abilities. He was on the U.S team for Pipe i'm pretty sure. One of the most versatile skiers to watch.

I'd put Mango 1st and Hackel 2nd, and Emile in 3rd. Mango and Hackel had by far the best entries imo. These guys have it all and always come out with the craziest parts. Emile's skiing was ganrly, I really liked his 2on switch up transfer. The thing that bothers me though is that I can name you every snowboard video that came out last year where his spots come from. For example, his line with the both ways handrags 3s, it's been done by Phil Jacques, another snowboarder from Qc.

Jesper's video was exactly what I expected, though it felt more like a "Two weeks at home skiing urban" video than a real ski. I would've given that spot to someone else. As for Sam Zahner and Noah Albaladejo, their videos were great, just maybe not on the level of Mango and Hackel, but they were still really good street parts

1) Mango (far and above IMO. Had the two gnarliest tricks in the entire thing with the dub and switch frontflip-kangaroo-thing).
2) Hackel
3) Emile

I really liked all the entries this year tho. Noah's may have been my favorite, just cause of the song and editing, but the skiing didnt quite hold up to the top 3 for me.

Jesper had a couple of bangers but the filming made my head hurt. Mango had the best tricks, Hackel had the best video.

i think mango takes the cake over Hackel because the risk factor was higher. Thats why he didn’t podium last year and he knew that so he brought the heaaattt

Young_pattyToo hard to chose between Mango and Hackel so I just won't vote.

You can got once per day so I recommend voting for both at least once. I think xgames uses the number of votes they get to partially convince themselves to host the event again and again. More votes is more views and more engagement, which allows them to get bigger budget and keep real ski alive. Go vote, not only for your favorite street part but any vote is a vote for street skiing.

But for realz what the actual fuck. Hackle and Mageau impressed me the most on first watch. I agree on the swerve thing but they didn't seem swervy just fucking gnarly. Hackles transfers and that double hand drag got me. Also just generally smooth.

People brought the fucking heat this year. Going to watch a few more times to take it all in. Fuck yeah

I agree with this a lot. I really liked hackels edit overall but it could have gone either way. And Emile is a good choice for 3rd. And agreed about JEsper. It was cool, but I was floored by some of the other edits.

I was totally blown away with Mango and Hackel, top spots go to them no doubt. But I thought Zahner was really impressive too, great diversity of tricks, very creative (and gnarly) spot selection, and that signature #molesquad style. A couple shots in there weren't anything special but as a whole it was pretty impressive. I think because Sam sticks more to the "traditional" tricks, he doesn't get the credit he deserves sometimes. Mango, Hackel, Zahner would be my 1-2-3.

I’m seeing all these comparisons of hackle to mango and I’m just not seeing it. Mango’s part was leagues above everything else. Hackles is second but still I don’t think they can be compared.

with that being said, I think hackle’s elnour part would have beat out anybody’s entry this year.


I really hope to see Jake take the win home this year.

I was not prepared at all for Mango's edit. Ive been a Jesper fan for a long time and watched his first and did Mangos next just out of curiosity and expected more creative low risk stuff like last year. The opening dub was the biggest, "Wait, what the fuck..." I have had in a while. Then it was the road gap onto the rail then just straight banger after banger. Im not a big fan of the "new wave" but Mango forever earned my respect from this edit.

I feel like the song choice let Zahner down a little bit making the edit feel not as crazy as it was. But he probably has the most balanced and well rounded edit between tech (switch 4 on pretz 2) big features (huge 30 foot drop off the building) inverts (rodeo 5 off the uprail and flat 3 transfer) and style (10kink Steez). And considering he did it all in less time and concussed...?!

Mango's tricks and spot selection were on a whole new level. dub 12, road gap to rail, brighton dam handplant, switch ollie pretzel flip, sliding with safety and nose grab, etc. It's also insane that Hoblitzelle and sanch filmed and edited this while also filming for Zootspace 2020.

Hackel's edit was amazing as well though, watching Hackel's 2020 edit gave me the same feeling that I had the first time I watched Mango's 2019 edit.

Everyone else killed it as well, I'm pretty glad i'm not a realski judge right now.

1. Mango holy shit. Last year I picked Phil just because Phil's was perfect, but this year no Phil and also Mango stepped up BIG. Like I liked his tricks last year but this year everything had some extra gnar and scale that, combined with his unique style and trick selection, is just all time.
2. Hackel's was a fun watch, flowed with his own personal take on skiing, and was impressive in its own regard but I think I'm just not into like sliding on the ground and ducking under rails. Call me old.
3. Emile's was a banger - shit was big and damn smooth.

Rest were cool but yeah, not even a question in my mind. The fight should be between #2 and #3 with Mango taking a well earned bit of golden hardware.

The first time watching them through I would say that Hackel has a slight edge over Mango. Mango's shots are probably a little more risky but saying that Hackel's is not risky is insane. He's riding switch under a rail thats literally 10 inches above the ground, that switch wallride to rail is madness and not to mention the nollie cork 9 over the rail. On top of that I think the editing and song choice in Hackel's edit made for an amazing overall feel.

In my opinion those two are in an absolute league of their own. They're both super innovative and are pushing the boundaries of street skiing and on top of that they are taking big risks. I think that Emile deserves the 3rd place for going huge and staying true to the roots of street skiing.

This is just from watching the edits a couple of times but I definitely need some more rewatches just to digest all of the madness going on. Big props to the rest of the guys as well! Jesper's was just mindbendingly tech, Zahner had some insane shots (that 7kink bs was nuts), and Noah has style for dayz + the edit was so well put together.

Conclusion - I fucking love Real Ski.

Jesper had some tech stuff with a few gnarly spots and some cool editing, but the use of the 360 gopro thing instead of multiple angles disappointed me. He also just straight slid a lot of the rails. I do believe he has a really clean style that is kinda overlooked. Favorite trick: 3 swap 2 out.

Mango definitely picked the best spots and was insanely creative, throwing the best tricks obviously. But his edit was kinda lacking, it just had that tone to it and nothing else. Strictly (insane) skiing. I had the hardest time choosing a favorite trick for him. Favorite trick: 180 pole revert 5 or nose bow slide

Hackel also had some amazing, creative tricks (shoutout ON3P) and his editing seemed slightly better, but his spot selection didn't evoke the same "you can't ski there" reaction as mango. He also incorporated more lines, which I'm a big fan of. Favorite trick: 3 into nosebutter 9 or fastslide frontswap backslide

BMile had a much more traditional realski feeling to his. Crashes, hiking, different shots, which I think I like. He definitely hit some gnarly spots too. It just didn't feel quite as progressive as the others. He brought the steeze for sure. Favorite trick: Cork 4 onto the tunnel

Zahner easily had the best edited part. And his tricks were pretty insane with a few rodeos, lots of switchups, and oozing with steeze. He did seem to have a fewer number of tricks than the others, but honestly I'm disappointed by the lack of his name in these threads. Favorite trick: rod 6 out of the up rail

Noah also had a well edited part, I loved the camera work. He also was pretty stylish, but was lacking the tech, big tricks, or frankly even any tricks. He also hit most things straight on, maybe getting a grab or adding flash, but gotta respect that freestyle means you can do whatever you want. Favorite trick: 2 on hand drag

My rommate walked out into the living room while I was watching that edit right as he went under the rail. She was laughing at my face and asking if I was watching something really awesome. I told her I was indeed. That switch eurocarve dealio under the rail blew my mind and I hope is something well see more off. Mango had some sick ass transfers and those underslides.

Idk, it's all fucked. What a year for real ski and couldn't have come at a better time.

After seeing Sam’s insta post about that head injury I cannot believe he managed to put together that part.
