The amount of skateboard footage that has come out since the 90s is huge— you would think that means its boring nowadays because pretty much every trick has been done on every type of obstacle/object. So is skateboarding dead? Nope, its alive and has a bigger audience than ever before—because there is always differences between the natural styles of skateboarders that makes it fun and timeless. Its always cool to see people “do themselves” as best they can. Some skaters have style that most would consider more effortless/aesthetic than others but the differences are part of what makes skating so fresh to watch.
rodney mullen pretty much invented every skate trick known to man over 3 decades ago and he has great style—so why isnt skateboarding dead today?
The bunch video elnour seems like its giving off the statement “style doesnt matter, only progression matters—if you do something creative it doesnt matter if it looks like shit”, and i dont think its an appealing attitude compared to skateboardings “you just do the best you u can do.” Attitude.
We are going to run out of tricks to do eventually. Progression will end just like microchips will hit their ceiling. Style is what really speaks to the person watching.
