Is there a proper way to fall backwards?

Maybe this doesn't happen to you but I've been trying to learn 360's and fuck it sucks if I stall at 180. Yeah yeah yeah I know what I'm doing wrong. Read all the tips, etc etc. Working on it and improving but it still happened. Anyway, It's not really the initial fall that sucks its the damn whiplash that I gotta deal with for the next week.

So is there any good way to fall if you find yourself about to wipe out backwards?

Any other tips?

I’m not sure if this will make sense...but try to slide with your backwards movement instead of just breaking your fall. Falling backwards sucks either way but watch how skateboarders fall backwards, they attempt to slide to disperse the forces in that direction. Not sure if that makes sense but that’s helped me a bit when I fall backwards

I’ve been having the same problem and I’ve found that it sucks to catch the tails of your skis on the snow. Once I hit the ground I usually try to slide on my back with skis off the snow

Just hip check and slide out if you can. Usually doesn’t hurt

also a popular tip if you’re worried about your knees, it seems like a plurality of knee injuries happen when the rider tries to hang onto a backwards fall. So let it gooo

Been there. Happened to me a few times trying 270s onto down rails, ended up sliding off but backwards and backseat so I went up onto my tails and then straight down on my back. Hard to say exactly what to do since every fall is a little different but going down to your hips is probably the best bet.

Try landing in this position next time you’re about to fall hard switch and you’ll just roll out of the landing. Have you ever watched any old Tom Wallisch videos? He used to do it all the time but he rarely posts clips of him crashing.
