Is it still cool to make edits? Or is it strictly for the Gram?

Over the past decade or so, I've seen a decline in edits/edit views across the board. I get it, people have even shorter attention spans than ever.
Very few annual flicks, decreasing viewership, increasing instagram presents.
Seems like a 15 second clip on insta can create more buzz than a whole seasons worth of effort?
Is it even worth continuing to create content in the 3-5 minute edit format that once ruled? Or is a 1min thing filmed on a phone/watched on a phone the new it?

People that stack footy to make an edit > people that post every clip on IG.

I think the problem is there's too many bad edits coming out so it's hard to keep up with whats actually quality vs all the garbage phone clips.
NS's curation system highly favors already established content producers but people on the come up just get lost in the mix regardless of how much effort they put in. Why invest in a nice camera when the project you put a ton of effort into just slips by with less then 20 upvotes? I keep making edits because it's a fun hobby and a good way to express you and your homies skiing but I hardly check the video section here myself, if I want to watch some good videos I'll go to Zootspace

Ask yourself, what would Simon Dumont do in the long run. There is your answer.

Edits should never die. I miss the days of Clown School edits. Plus Instagram will take out your audio if it’s a well known song. So this “flaw” actually presents one advantage of making an edit.

love edits, they just don't get any love. leftovers for the gram as hype, and then use the bangers for an edit
