Cannabis companies sponsoring skiers

I talked about this before with my friends, about how they see the future of cannabis and skiing. The industry is already massive, but will it become as big a thing as all our favourite energy drinks? Will we see a large RAW logo plastered alongside a Monster logo?

I've been noticing quite a bit of lesser known skiers promoting certain weed-related companies, getting sponsored by them and such. But it's only been the smaller skiers, which is sort of surprising to me. I'm awaiting the day one of the big guys like Tanner Hall getting a sponsor from some company that makes CBD oils and other shit.

What also struck my mind is the fact that our crowd of skiers are less exposed to these companies. Sure, maybe they'd look at snowboarders and say well, shit, these guys will be great candidates, but skiers? We're more in the shadow. Especially now, where we see more and more "comp jocks" than "park rats" appear in the sort of mainstream ski world, I'm sure it would be off-putting for some of these companies to find a way to bloom around skiing.

Anyways, I'd like to know other people's thoughts on this.

I've been reached out to numerous by CBD companies that want to partner with my YouTube channel but since my audience is younger I've denied them. But these companies know about this market, I just think it's still so new it is going to take time.

Also this is like already a thing although I'm sure more will start popping up.

Lyman Currier is sponsored by some sort of tincture/cbd company

Tanner used to (maybe still is) sponsored by Blackrock papers and had some exclusive products

Also pretty sure the dude that owns TTP also owns a pretty huge grow op in Colorado

I think Kyle Mack (snowboarder) is legit sponsored by Raw.

Yeah other than that idk who else. I don't know how much it will change considering there isn't really a huge influence of alcohol sponsoring skiers. I know 10 barrel does and maybe fat tire(?) but other than that they seem to partner with individual events rather than athletes

Its definitely gonna keep growing along side the cannabis industry. Companies love the borderline free advertising and it's the right market so why not? I totally see an increase in weed related companies sponsoring skiers and snowboarders.

I think a lot of the companies Sponsoring are sponsoring through saying its CBD or medical. Honestly we should all welcome it including big companies.... get it out there and get the research and be able to replace opiates with something natural.... I may or may not have some background in this industry. We’ve been working with some 500mg capsules. Both CBD and tetra9. people get their hands on those and drop the opiates. It’s better then a Purdue pharma sticker next to Red Bull.

injuries made me a junkie for years.... that seven leafed plant has saved my life.

What is nans ?

I smoke in a manner consistent with how most people smoke cigarettes , started when I was 17/18 to socialize, fit in and “get high”, increased use throughout the years, especially when I quit cigarettes a few years ago, there also was a serious increase when my dad passed, I have never actually been “high”, except the few carts I’ve smoked and concentrate dabs ( which I don’t do anymore ), I get irritable, I’m severely less motivated, and basically depressed if I don’t smoke, was that was since a very small child and when I’ve tried to quit I actually get constipated and sweat for days and was like fuck i, I’ll burn my lungs and money up before tolerating that.

the weed helps me , the waste is my money, if I could quit, I would

True, just seemed like a lot. I think the most I ever smoked was like a 1/4 a day prolly not even and that was when I was staying at my friends who were working for a decent size medical grow and were giving me more than I could smoke to test stuff out and just to roll for the house. I wish I pay 175-225 oz for the same shit that hits dispensaries around here, I learned to budget my life accordingly as not to be ruined years ago but it def holds me back , probably keeps me from making friends etc...but if someone was to choose not to like me bc I smell like weed they are Mia judging me and are probably more judgmental than those I’d choose to surround myself with, regardless, I really hope to quit this year, I’ve said that for many years now and if I do return to smoking maybe do it like a normal person a few Gs after work or whatever, it’s not a joy anymore it’s an urge and a must to say the least to remain “normal”

Marijuana use is still a taboo subject for many but as more and more states legalize people are opening up more and more to it. IMO its only a matter of time before we see cannabis sponsorship become common place in the action sports industry. As time goes on and more and more research is done people are gonna start realizing that pot is not this "end all" drug that its been made out to be. Last weekend I was at keystone and two guys from Texas who were in their late 50s early 60s asked where the best dispensaries were. This shows how the acceptance of marijuana use is spreading beyond the borders of green states.

Baseball and Football teams with young audiences promote beer and liquor so yeah I think we will see Marijuana sponsorship. The action sports industry is also the perfect testing ground for this, many athletes already use CBD products and while I have not I've heard about the benefits of using it especially for the common injuries that skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking etc. have.

Sounds eerily familiar to me. Google Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome cause you’re a prime candidate. Not here to preach to anyone, do what you want as long as you’re not hurting others, but my life drastically improved after my diagnosis.

you smoking spliffs? cause that sounds more like nicotine withdrawal to me, I def got addicted to nicotine when I was smoking spliffs and I thought I was constantly craving weed but it was actually the nicotine my brain was after. Once I switched to just weed I was able to cut wayyy back on my consumption

That is part of my strategy, I tried talking to my Doc once, he said dopamine imbalance blah blah here’s some fin Zoloft , tried that and boooh! Missed feeling my feelings so dropped those.

I smoke blunts , blunts blunts f in blunts, I’m gonna switch to pipes and bongs to get away from the nicotine in blunt wraps and then slow down and hopefully quit cause honestly it’s become prison like almost, it’s rare I enjoy a blunt, when I ski I don’t smoke been a slow year tho car down and all

there's also a difference between being sponsored by a straight up weed company and a CBD company. david gravette, david loy, clint walker, boo johnson etc are sponsored by legit weed companies or dispensaries. CBD companies are different. CBD is legal everywhere and doesn't work like weed does. i wouldn't be surprised to see skiers sponsored by CBD companies as there's not really any kind of stigma around those.

I actually roll smaller joint sized blunts , keeps me puffin more often satisfying oral fixation, whether at home , or work my ability to smoke really isn’t inhibited. At home is at home I just go outside, at work , I’m a landscaper so it’s kinda easy.

Not opposed to buying larger quantities tho the goal is to go in the other direction, don’t currently have the $ to buy more while maintaining family , savings would have to be made or someone go without something, which is only an option for me , wide and kids do not go without ever, I’m an ass not a pos.

I have a bowl and bong that I don’t use currently, plan is to switch sometime.... really wanted it to be when ski season was strong to give myself distraction etc.... but I don’t wanna wait for next year so we’ll see

got mixed feelings about this. on one hand I am super open to new and natural treatments, but on the other it is kinda dangerous to talk about weed like it's nothing serious anymore

Spriggs was riding for a cultivator before he beat up that chick. The free skiing scene is pretty small now a days compared to other sports but I’m sure there are some skiers with weed brand plugs. Pretty prevalent in skateboarding

I wouldn’t even want a weed sponsor, easy enough to just acquire on its own- I’d rather just have a nice energy drink or outside-of-the-scene sponsor so I could buy all the weed I wanted.

the fact that they can make all this $$$ legally while people still sit in jail cells across the country for buying, selling, or having a fuckin roach on them is wack. its cool their giving money to the sport but lets not forget where the money is coming from

Most dispensaries/ farmers sell out the back door to get by because legal cultivation and sales are taxed so heavily that it’s hard to get by just selling legally.

That’s why I’d rather just have a sponsor that pays well so I can keep my farmer afloat and still smoke good. Win win for everyone.

There are a few reasons why getting a weed sponsorship can be bad for your career. You will lose the right to travel to the US

Canadians can get banned from the US if a boarder guard asks if you toke, even if you have a clear record. That goes with being associated with weed publically...

The other reason its almost impossible is the advertisement laws prohibit the adverts of cannabis, like cigarettes.

Plus, cannabis companies in Canada are actually owned by investment groups, the greediest fucks in north america. They hate loosing money; every dollar of income is the most important thing. So they wont be dolling out free weed to athletes.

Its too bad; I compete in skimo racing, big mountain freeride and occasionnal park events and smoke a ton of weed. I would be nice cutting costs from expensive bud
