Thanks that was what I assumed. What you got going next weekend wanna join up and ski Red? I'll be staying at that new hostel at the base. Think any of the bars walking distance will be fun on a Sat night?

I believe it will be 2 days at each with some flexibility for powder dumps and to not drive during big snow storms (might change hotels from 2 nights to 1 when I check in.) Now I won't skimp Fernie down to 1.

Only ever skied fernie,red and whitewater, I've spent alot of time at fernie becauser i can stay with my friend or with my family that has a place but it is an amazing hill. best runs are anything far over in the skier's left of ceder (redtree, snake, gorbee) and easter. Just follow where the snow is most of the time though. I've only skied a few days at the other ones but whitewater is a sick community hill and does alot with 3 lifts and red is big with lots of terrain.

The only bars at the base are Rafters and the Josie, both are pretty expensive but can be a good time for apres. Going into Rossland is the better option - Clanceys, the Legion, the Steamshovel, and the Eagles are the hot spots and often have live music and a good crowd. There’s a shuttle that runs between the hill and Rossland until around 10pm but it’s only like a half hour walk on a groomed path.
Red is my favourite out of the 4, but I’m pretty biased. Red tends to get a bit less snow than whitewater but the inbounds terrain is much better at Red and it doesnt get skied out as fast. For sidecountry at Red, check out Mt. Roberts, Record Mt & ridge, and Mt. Kirkup.

Haven't done fernie or kimberly, but I loved the terrain at Whitewater and the vibe of Red. Nelson is a cool little town but Rossland is more fun. Whitewater is more challenging skiing vs. red

Red is my favorite ski area I've ever been to because you don't need to skin to the good stuff. So spread out that nothing is really beat to shit. I didn't even make it to Grey or Kirkup just road Red chair and Motherload. Whitewater is great if you want to spend 15-30 mins skinning to the good stuff but I didn't love the lift runs.

Trail BC is my favorite city anywhere its nice and dirty and my style need to meet a Canadian chick so I can move there.


Can I get to Fernie from Calgary Airport without renting a car somewhat easily? Would there be bus service to/from Lethbridge so I could do a day at Castle? I figure that has to be a rental car trip when it happens. Probably will do a week hotel in Trail a week in Fernie and hit Whitefish MT if I am flying into Spokane and not Calgary. Won't be next year but that trip is gonna happen.

I'm looking to stick to travels where no rental car is needed. Pretty sure I can do the Banff area spots and get to Golden for Kicking Horse without one and Whistler of course a car is useless. I'm buying Epic next year since Vail took my employee pass this year and I want an Epic again.

You can get to KH and Whistler without a car. Kicking Horse has a shuttle that runs on Wed and Saturdays to and from the resort. I take it every year when I go. The Brewster Bus takes you to Lake Lousie and Kicking Horse picks you up. So you can easily go to LL or Banff on a Wed. Then catch the KH shuttle on Saturday for a few days. It's super easy. Not sure about fernie as I haven't been.
