Tyrolia Adrenalin 13 AT Bindings

I’ve read tons of reviews and forums on this binding, but here’s my situation. I’ve been skiing forever, but just recently have been getting backcountry, both in Montana and in Maine. I’ve borrowed peoples skis with no real regard for the type of bindings. Are these a good starter binding to throw on some Atomic Backland FR 102’s? I don’t know about weight of ski/ binding and how that relates to skiing / skiing. Thoughts welcome.

Congrats man! That's awesome. What do you have for boots? The lifespan of frame bindings if you're really going to get into touring is VERY short. You'll want to rip them off your skis in a week. If you have a touring specific boot with pins you should definitely go that route. If not, and you're set on frames, the Adrenalin is a solid choice. Stack height isnt as insane as Dukes and they hold up. But like I said, you'll probably dislike them very quickly

I’m in the Dalbello Panterra 120s, obviously not a pin boot.

I had a pair of frames last season as I was in the same situation as you were: no pin compatible boots and the full jump into a tech kit gets quite expensive.

Honestly they are a good intro binding but they are exactly that. Once you start wanting to go further into the backcountry and on more complicated (steeper/more kick turns) skin tracks they become frustrating. I logged around 30 days on these last season. The riser on the binding is not very durable and will become bent and lose its rigidness. Further I am working on warrantying them as the heel spring is no longer releasing at the proper value (10din is releasing at an 8).

In my opinion they are not a jack of all trades and more of mediocre at both the downhill and the uphill. I noticed the added height above the ski, and they felt to be almost rocking side to side in turns. Making me wish for my pivots inbounds and wish for techs out of bounds.

In the end I took them off, replaced them with pivots and got a full tech set up after one season.

So basically I agree with this post, they are good starters but if you fall in love with touring you will want new ones
