A Day For Jake(Burton and free tickets)

Snowboarding is cool and Jake did a bunch for the sport which had a big impact on freestyle skiing as well. Should ditch them funky ass skis and drag some knuckles with the boys but skiing is chill as well.

Surprised more places wouldn't jump on but if you live near one of these mtns check it out. We'll be at Boreal.

I’m gonna be in Bozeman during this and paying for Big Sky would have been super rough on the budget. I’d die on that terrain on a board. If they have demos I’ll do a few groomer laps I like to snowboard it’s just sketchy and hurts you fall a ton.

Not trying to be a dick or anything but if they are capping capacity that is a good thing for those of us who already booked up.

I can't wait for Big Sky for zero dollars and I got a jam show to hit that night. The Magic Beans are pretty good been listening last couple days on my runs.

I didn't realize it would have a tiny cap. I work nights dude i fucking sleep or drink when Om not working. Just made the thread to help out the peoples. I dont care i can get comps there but def not riding on a day when it's going to be crowded.

I’m all for free tickets, but not for what Burton is responsible for.

Burtons company is trying hard as possible to kill skiing. In Southern California he is doing a good job. Virtually no park skiers and 80% of everyone at the ski resort snowboards.

Burtons snowboard creates deep scars in the terrain.

Snowboarders inconsiderately camp on features, sit in the way of the lift and all over runs.

Snowboarding partly causes overcrowding. No overcrowding issues at Alta, Deer valley or Aspen (essentially ski only).



I could go on more about what Burton brought to the ski resort.

Whats the thanks skiers get for what they do and cause? Some BS “spray skiers” sticker. If snowboarders don’t like skiers, maybe they shouldn’t choose to practice their sport at a ski resort skiers invented 50+ years before snowboarding was a thing.

I don’t want to disrespect a dead guy. However, there are consequences to your actions. There are zero benefits and tons of negatives due to his actions he caused.

Ill be a Mt. Baldy that day.

However, he didnt back up any of his claims or even explain how "Burton is killing skiing" instead of just SoCal culture is leaning toward snowboarding instead of skiing, which is probably due to the huge skate culture there. Snowboarding has lost a ton of its market share to skiing.


Obviously everyone will prefer one or the other but it’s super beta to not be adequate at both unless you live in the south or something and are lucky to get out a few days a year.

It was low brow trolling at best.

Terrain parks were bread out of snowboard culture. Hell skiing in parks would get your pass pulled at one point. "Snowboard parks".

I've got my gripes with burton as a company like anyone but come on. The way they made their shit incompatible and tried to sue people was bullshit. I hate apple doing that shit too. That said burton helped to build snowboarding into what it is today. Look at what the open became. Snowboarding and skiing would be nearly what it is without burton.

Some people ski some people snowboard. Ive seen boarders camp on features, skier getting their taint slide on, shitty featyres built by snowboarders, shitty features built by skiers.

Hell people, even on here used to call side entry features "snowboard style" at one point.

Idk. Just go out and have fun.

What about Ski Superpipe finals being the final event at xgames this year? 90% of the snapchat/insta stories I saw from friends at xgames who don't ski or board were at the SKI superpipe final

Probably because SoCal has a strong synergy with surf/skate culture and snowboarding is just another board sport that reflects the culture/market.

They have to strap in at the top. Big fucking deal you have to go around them for 1.5 seconds. Skiers eject out and have to hike back up to retrieve their shit and you never hear snowboarders complain.
