This is actually pretty funny. Ironic that he is now "caring" about the environment, but hey, Lesh will be Lesh.
I could care less about him hitting jumps on his sled. Stupid? Sure. Did he harm anyone / anything by doing it? Probably not. Does doing it and posting it publicly give Vail valid reason to go after him? Seems reasonable.
But yeah, his note about them "decimating wilderness" is laughably ironic, given what he did last year on Indy, and just his general approach to life and business.
I obviously don't like Vail either, but coming from him, calling them out regarding environmental impact is so dumb. Objectively, Vail does
way more harm to the environment than him & Virtika (primarily due to scale), but I've also never seen him do anything to make a
positive impact on the environment. I can't find a single mention of sustainability on Virtika's site, and at this point, just about every brand, big & small, is making an effort in that regard, even if it's selfishly just to appeal to consumers. I mean at the very least, recycled polyester and organic cotton aren't even that expensive or difficult to source at this point and would be easy to integrate into their current line, but I don't see any evidence that the concept of sustainability plays any role in their business model. Shit, at the very least, Vail
says they're working on some (fairly ambitious)
goals. They're self-inforced so I don't put much faith at all in it, but they're doing the bare minimum of setting goals and at least saying what they're doing to achieve them so you could theoretically hold them accountable.
But yeah, he's just gonna keep doing it and it's definitely an effective way to get publicity. And just me contributing to this thread is probably what they want, so, yay...
