Grabbing 3s (help)

I’d say try tweaking the grab a bit, especially with safety and mute.

The grab looks bad because IMO you dont seem comfortable with changing the position of your body which is why you keep one leg stuck down which you use as your axis. After doing 3s for 8 years the same way doing pencils is probably muscle memory, which you need to break.

couple things:
1 don't think about the spin. focus on the grab. the spin will come around.
2 even better for you, instead of just grabbing, try a tucked up cross. then add mute or tail after you get that down.
keep filming yourself to watch and improve.

I would recommend trailing safety instead of leading. I was able to add a trailing safety to my 3s very soon after I learned them because I was already tucked in my rotation and I just had reach down a bit more. Also, the higher you grab the trailing safety, the more you can begin cork your rotation incrementally.
Thats my 2 cents, don't know any other grabs with my 3.

Looks like you could improve on your pop to get more airtime.

1. Breathe out is my biggest bit of advice, natural human reflex is to breathe in before something like a jump meaning you have two huge inflated airbags in your chest limiting your movement, breathe out and relax and you'll find it way easier to bring your legs up to the grab.

2. Set the spin from the obliques (side abs) and hips rather than the shoulders, if your shoulders are setting the spin you'll have way less control when you start trying to do other stuff with your arms like grabs... obviously let your shoulders follow the rotation once set

3. Set the spin, then go for the grab, you clearly have the spin down so don't worry about that side of things, once it's set it'll come round just fine

4. Bring your skis up to your hands not the other way round, otherwise you'll find yourself getting off axis pretty quickly.

at least for me, when i set and pop and go off the lip of the jump, i start to sorta open my legs up to slow the spin down around in between your 180 and 270 and thats when i bring my legs up to also grab.

try trailing Japan. That is what I did for my first grabing 3, just reach down and and its there.

I had the same problem for a long time and still do somewhat. I would suggest really focusing on bending your knees and bring them up towards your body, especially for grabs like safety and mute. It'll throw off your balance in the air while rotating at first and you'll have to kinda relearn how you set up the take off and rotation, but once your comfortable really compacting your body together, those grabs will come a lot easier and looks dope. Eventually once your feel really comfortable with the grab, the rotation will feel even better than before without the grab.
