GrandThings...I'm sorry does this mean you're trying to setup a rail yard in the Boston area?
Let me know how to help/who to pay.
bradenlangisYes sirrrr. Have connections with a few mayors and park departments outside of Boston. Really think it could work partnering with a New England ski resort and/or ski companies. Low cost for a ton of free publicity, in early stages but trying to get a feel for costs and some things I make sure I cover when pitching it. I’ll friend you and keep you updated, the more people interested the better
Dan-ManI remember way back in the day Freeze magazine featured an EAST COAST ski shop that had a rail park next door to their store.
and didn't the LINE Traveling Circus guys hit a free one in their series this year at a college out there?
bradenlangisIf you have any sort of constructive criticism on why this wouldn’t work, I’d appreciate it
bradenlangisDarkside snowboards has one in killingtin. The idea of this would also to be to help introduce a wider audience to park skiing along with people who can’t afford the trips up to vt. Also for experienced park skiers, who doesn’t want to lap a rail yard built by park skiers, for park skiers. No more jerries sitting on landings, as we are the ski patrol now. To summarize, it would introduce park skiing (or regular skiing depending on what site it’s built on, while also basically introducing a Newschoolers run yard you can lap all day for either free, or a very small price. If you have any sort of constructive criticism on why this wouldn’t work, I’d appreciate it, as well as ideas you have for this.
iFlipThe liability. People will get hurt. Legs will be broken, teeth will be lost, wrists will be sprained. Skateparks at public parks manage to get around the liability issue largely, but this is certainly partially due to them being an "accepted" and known entity. Rails for skiers are something that less than 1% of the total population knows about. Insurance companies won't be able to craft a reasonable policy.
Then there is storage during the off-season, upkeep, and of course the fairly large initial startup cost. What about maintenance? It's all well and good if you agree to set them up and maintain them, but what happens when you move away?
I'm certainly not trying to rain on your parade. I wish you all the success in the world and really hope you find a way to make this happen.

ParryWithAnAHit me up if this happens I would definitely do a free TAFT stop, or if you need any soical power let me know.
theabortionatorI feel like people aren't going to care too much about terrain parks at this current moment. Might be best to regroup when some sanity returns to the world.
Especially the mayors in large metropolitan areas.
theabortionatorI know Planet Snow guys had a couple small free rail parks they were building a decent way back. Not sure if those are still going. They were in the midewest I think. I wouldn't even know where to look though lol.
It would be cool to see more of these pop up similar to skateparks. Especially in places that hold the snow better. The northeast and midwest seems great if you can make the snow or truck in some snow removal snow. It's cold enough usually to stay around.
I tried for years to get a skatepark in the hometown when I was growing up. Never happened but I appreciate the struggle. Hope you have better luck and can make it happen.
MomAgainst4tnitePlanet snow tools started one in Boise like 6 years ago but it's basically just been a tube hill for the last 2 years. They have like one rail set up for a month out of the szn
theabortionatorWord yeah, that's the one I was trying to think of. Bummer it didn't work out.
