Most frustrating encounters

Hey all,
I wanted to tell a story about me skiing the other day. So I’m going into the park and there is a 40 foot rail. Near the rail there is a skier (maybe 10 feet from the rail). So I go to grind the rail and while I’m on the rail (maybe 5 or 10 feet) the person goes over and sits on the end!!!! I crash into him, to realize that he was drunk off his ass and had literally no spatial awareness.

what r some other stories?

Similar story just on a jump.

So there's these 2 jerries standing at the side of the jump at the table and the male jerry is instructing his gf jerry on how to get the angle he wants for his video.
So i go to hit this jump and jump to switch in the inrun to go for a switch 3. While i jump to switch and look over my shoulder to setup for the switch 3 suddenly this gf jerry is standing so close to the jump that i have to carve more sideways and still hit the jump with the switch 3 and seriously my ski's get soo close to this girls face its insane.
So i eat shit on the jump and the jerry is just really shocked.
Later i go back to this guy trying to get his shot and tell him his gf really shouldnt be on the table of the jump etc etc, luckly they were understanding

Last year there was a junior comp in the medium sized park at my local. This park is right next to the large park and they come together at the bottom where there's a couple features you can hit from either. The comp line ended up above in the medium park so all the parents were watching at the bottom where the two parks merge. Anyway, there were a couple of people watching right by this flat tube that was open and people were hitting it. I was standing above it about to hit it and I saw the people standing there. They were kind of in the way which was annoying, but I knew that I wouldn't hit them and I didn't really want to start any trouble by telling them to move. I just did a simple trick on the rail so I knew I would easily avoid them, I skied past at least 5 feet away, but they got really mad. They said people had been running into them all day and that they were going to complain to ski patrol or something. These people actually thought that they were in the right. I was telling them that people were skiing close to them because they were in the way, but they seemed to be lacking any sense of logic whatsoever. They were refusing to move even though the whole other side of the trail was open with places that they could stand. I was getting so frustrated that I was about to really start laying some facts on them, but I saw a guy from park crew coming down to talk to them so I decided it would be better if I just let it go and let him deal with it.

It still makes me so angry that people can actually be this stupid and immune to even the slightest bit of logic.

It would be one thing if these people were in the way, but realized it after someone told them and then moved, but they were about the most brainless set of jerries I've ever encountered.

Not one specific thing, but the sheer amount of children and parents who ride through the park. It's roped off, there's no way to get into the park without knowing it, there's signs everywhere. For a little context, it's a small park, so almost every time they're going over the knuckle of the jumps and that means there's 5+ people waiting for a minute or two for a family to make their way down the landing, until we know it's safe. It's not a big deal itself, but it's incredibly irritating. Just last week, school groups (grade 4-9) field trips were banned from the park for this exact thing.

It was a super busy saturday and the park was packed with people who had no clue about what they were doing. It was later in the day prolly around 4 and I was cruising through the jump line. I went for a sorta corked 360 and around 270 I saw a kid pizza-ing right down the landing. I thought I was going to kill the poor guy but by some devine miracle I landed right behind him and just flew right between his legs without hitting him at all. Thank god his dad didn't see me. I decided to call it quits after that and went home.

Fuck skiing on weekends.

Bit different from the other stories told on this thread, but last week a few friends and I were at Blackcomb. Towards the end of the day we decided to go into the waffle hut. We all stuck our stuff on a table outside and went in to get our food. When we came out there were two French guys sitting next to our gear drinking some Kokanees. We politely asked them to move, but they refused. They claimed you can’t reserve a table but our stuff was clearly there. We ended up just squeezing in next to them.

Are my friends and I in the wrong here or nah?



Edit: forgot to mention that this was at like 3 and there were other open tables

If the tables big enough for everyone then the nice thing to do is just share it rather than take up more space than necessary, especially if it was crowded, but if it was too small to fit everyone then yeah they shoulda just saw the stuff and not sat down there. Its pretty annoying when the lunch areas are packed, but half the chairs are just holding coats and not actual people.

wow some people didnt learn "seating manners" in grade school, who the hell cares. If it really bugged you that much you should either a. punch them in the mouth b. have buttsex with there mothers

Ya fair enough. This was at like 3 tho and there were other tables open but we snagged one next to the view.

on a super deep day at alta a few years ago, i hit the showoff/hotdogger/hollywood hit at the bottom of wildcat and went pretty deep with a 3, there was some tourist homie traversing on the landing completely perpendicular to where i was headed, and i swerved so hard to avoid him once i landed that my binding ripped out of my ski. i had to run to the ski shop and get them to remount the binding so i could get some more laps since my homie was out from colorado just for that one day

Gear doesn't reserve tables....especially if all tables are full. If there are open tables then I would say yeah the other guys are being a little bitchy by moving your stuff as it's just common sense and they can sit somewhere else. But yeah gear doesn't reserve tables.

facts its mad fustrating when people just put all their shit on the table and think they saved the table. If your gettinf food or something just have one buddy stay at the table to reserve it the right way.

youve never been in a lodge that is packed and theirs like 8 tables sitting empty for 30 minutes because some jerries threw their shit on there? that shits wack. Most lodges i remember have signs saying gear doesnt reserve tables for a reason.

my home mountain has a jump line that is only 2 jumps but has a fairly long flat area between them and more often then not you’ll see people standing directly in between the jumps and every time someone has to volunteer to not hit the jumps so they can go tell them to move. You can’t hit the second jumps without dropping from the top either and the landings are blind so on busy days someone has to make sure they safe to hit. Kind of annoying that this has to be done.

Some doucher side jumper that almost hit me while raking a features trying to tell me that that's what the take off was there for. I'm like yo dawg you're wrong, and I put this rail in so I'm gonna go with a no. Reasoning with jerry isn't worth the effort sometimes.

Racer coach douche and her douchers in training duck walking up takeoff of big step down. I was polite af but told them they couldn't do that and she jumped in to say they can do whatever they want etc. I nicely explained how that was messing up the jump and putting them at risk. She got pissed and wanted to report me to management. I gave her my name and was like good luck with that lol.

Both of those were at Gore 06-08

Instructor parked his 8 or 9 kids directly behind the takeoff on the knuckle of a 72'ish jump. Scary af, I explained logic to him. He was a douche and had been skiing buttermilk since 1492 before they had a terrain park and he could do whatever he wanted. I reported him for being a douchey sketchball, he reported me for trying to make sure his kids didn't die. Imagine hitting a 70 foot jump and off the takeoff seeing a bunch of kids dead center in the landing but you're already airborne and can't do anything about it but hope they duck/you went big enough to clear them.

Some girl side hit my board that was blocking the takeoff while sidejumping so hard, supermanned over the rail. I thought she was fucked but was alright. I was glad she was alright, got her on her skis and out of there. Then went back to take off and saw my board was smashed. If you're out there I fucking hate you!

Also always dope when a park isn't linear and you're carving to a feature but somebodies in line for it so you avoid it and then they fucking side jump it. Like thanks dude.

It's impressive how clueless/oblivious people are but it's not just a park thing. People are like that in real life. Walking out in traffic etc. Some people probably should just get hit by a bus and not breed.

It's impressive sometimes. I had a board, 2 shovels, my coat, a helmet, and probably other stuff blocking the takeoff and had somebody go through all of it and hit me. Luckily low speed. But it's like, How in the fuck are you still alive if you're that oblivious that wasn't okay. I'm sure some people just don't give a fuck and yolo it but there's def some people that really are that stupid.

One thing I don't miss about day staff parks. Especially these days where you have to be extra friendly with the shittiest people or lose your jerb/get ranty facebook yelp and whatever the fuck else reviews. "1 star, I did something horrifically stupid and a park staff member politely told me that I couldn't and that made me sad" FUUUUUU

Couple weeks ago at my local 2 snowboard Jerry’s w all rental stuff (I’m talkin helmets goggles the whole deal, from the base shop) were riding thru the park and snaking everyone who was trying to hit features. They get to the jump line and stop, take their snowboards off, and walk up the jump and sit on the edge of the lip with their feet hanging off like it was a park bench. Had to shout at them to fucking move and they didn’t budge so a park ranger had to boot them out. Shit was hands down the wackest thing I’ve ever seen go down in a park

The other day WP had 2 seater lift set up with a singles line running. Think about this for a second.

I didn't think about it and got in the singles line. Well of course if its a 2 seater chair, you aren't likely to see any singles in the regular non-single line. So of course the singles line was not moving AT ALL. Finally, this single chick is in the normal line, so I ducked under the rope to join her. Of course this fucking old jerry snowboarder is like did you just cut the line?

Normally I would have fully snapped off on him, but I've been getting myself into trouble lately. So I thought about it for a second and said, you're right, no problem, and ducked back under the rope into the singles line. And he was technically right, given that stupid ass WP was running a singles line on a 2 seater chair lift.

Honestly if you just alternated after a double group you probably would've been fine. I don't think anyone would freak out over a single taking a double chair. I've never understood why resorts put in a singles line for a double chair.

My friends flew out from NYC to meet me at my cabin in Vermont. We were lapping park all day skiing off those sick jumps right next to those big metal things trying 360's all day. After we got tired of that we decided to get some lunch. We noticed that there was this awesome picnick table in the middle of the park! It was kind of hard to get to and the top was all plastic. Pretty uncomfy if you ask me. We called my dad who brought us all a Bleu cheese burger. People kept yelling at us to get out of the way. We figured they were just hungry too and were planning on eating lunch at that spot after us. They were being super rude, though. Definitely skiing Europe next vacation, I hear there are super hot swedish girls there

Most recent experience was a few weeks back on the first chair ride up for the day. An old boomer right when the lift took off threw down the bar which proceeded to hit me while I was leaning down to unbuckle my boots. I confronted him and asked for him to make an announcement next time before throwing the bar down. He felt he was not in the wrong and that he was just following the rules and would not even apologize for hitting me, then he went into some rant about my mother yada yada yada. These kinda people piss me off the most.

Woman and her son were skiing super slow through the park and side hitting the rail jumps. I very kindly told her that there was a smaller park with jumps right next to this one and that its dangerous for her kid to be hitting the side jumps when people are coming through hitting the rails. She very not so kindly told me to go f*ck myself right in front of her kid. Told the park crew and they told her to not come back or they'd take her pass.

This one dude got mad at me for "holding up the lift line" even though there was pretty much no line, and I was just fixing my boot. Then he got even more frustrated when I didn't ride up with him on the chair, just cause he was a grade A dick. When I got to the top, he started filming me (which is illegal without my consent), and said he would pull my pass, which he can't do. I went through the park and when I got down to the lift, the guy was pointing me out to the liftie. the liftie was like, "Im not pulling his pass for doing nothing"...

Some people just have a stick up their ass and think they own the mountain

Just had a similar moment today with a lady snowboarder in the whistler park rolling up to the lip of the features and then hopping off the side after waiting a few seconds. Almost smacked into her on the second feature as she suddenly decides to start shuffling toward the middle of the feature instead of continuing to roll off the side. I still slid the feature narrowly missing her and she screamed out loud when i went by. I gave her a wtf gesture after and she just stood there.. still on the lip of the feature...
