3d printed glidecam

I know newschoolers media fools are obsessed with the glidecam and I thought I'd attempt a home build.

I got access to a 3d printer at school and am printing my quick release mount and plate tonight. Tomorrow I'll print my xy table then construct the pole and print counterweight piece.

As I make pieces I'll add photos to the thread. If anyone is interested in doing something themselves dont hesitate to ask questions! All designs started in fusion 360.

Here is a rendering of the 3d quick release plates for the glidecam. picking these up this afternoon and will post up the actual photos.

Next print will be the counterweight system on the bottom

Looking nice, you could add cutouts to the bottom plate to reduce overall weight, but depending on what you're printing it with it might not matter anyway. How are you going to design the bearing gimbal system?

The handle will be a 3d printed housing around a skate hearing most likely. Some pretty simple designs out there around that. Picking up the bottom plate today. I'll post a picture of that and the handle system

super sick! What plastic are you making it out of? Gotta worry about cracking in the cold so making make two sets of the quick release

Made out of ABS. First print scaled weirdly and I'm re printing overnight. I'll post an image of the first take when I'm home. Going to need to re design the handle system too.

Didn't realize my xy table was on another plane so it's printing oddly and has a bunch of support it doesn't need. Another 5 hours and I'll be able to see if the quick release matches

Putting the finishing touches on the design for handle housing. Going to try and use a shaft collar around a monopod leg and print a housing for the shaft collar and handle.
