Looking for a hard charging ski 108-116

Whats up Ns, had a really shitty day on my 4frnt kye 110 and made me realize I need a different ski to replace it.

I ski alta and brighton and like to mob as fast as possible through bumps, trees, drops, and hits. I really like to drive the skis as much as possible and really lean into em. Not a huge fan of the centered/neutral stance.

What I didnt like about the kye was the flex pattern. Tips are super soft and then middle of ski is super stiff. When I hit bumps as speed, the tip will deflect but then ill hit the stiff part and its like a wall that just pitches me forward and tosses me.

Another ski I have tried to use all mountain are the surface outsiders. Between their light weight, their three stage rocker and their stiffness I just get bounced around when I hit bumps.

One ski I really like is the on3p cease and desist. Blows through crud, but they are damn big underfoot for an everyday ski. Love the fact that I can smear em in the tight stuff and then let em run in the open.

I would really like a twin tip, or something that has somewhat of a rockered tail to keep the smearability high.

I asked my friend how he thinks I would like his faction 4.0s and he thinks they are to soft for me and my style.

Im not opposed to some metal in the ski but I absolutely hate when a ski feels dead. I realize this lowers my options for what Im looking for.

Weight isnt a huge issue cause im a stockier guy and am not afraid to manhandle something to get it to perform.

one ski that comes to mind is the on3p billy goat.

Open to ideas from any company. Would prefer to stay away from anything custom cause im pretty sure I dont get an industry discount on custom skis.

The Nordica Enforcer 110 or 115 Free sound like they might be worth a try. They both have metal in them, but they don't feel as dead as other skis with a couple sheets of metal.

They have a pretty decent twined up tail, but are very much a directional ski.

Blister has a good buyers guide worth checking out, and I know they have reviewed both the 110 and 115.

I dont think the enforcer 110 is very chargy, never been onthe 115, but have been on 104. But sure it has 2 layers of titanal, so of course stiffer than others.



I ride my mantra 102 a when I wanna go fast/hard, that ski is CHARGY.

get on a 2020 mantra 102 it has the new 3d radius, try it on piste or something hard, try the 191cm. I have them at +1



You can smear it at hiiigh speeds, and it has some feedback to it.



One massive drawback is tight woods going slow on heavy deep pow



I find most skis at 108-116 to be kinda "dead" anyway.

Rustler 10 or 11 are also very viable options. I did have a buddy in the shop who pro-formed them last year and the camber in them was gone within 10-15 days of skiing. Havent heard of others saying this but then again, havent looked into them a ton.

no one has recommended it, but that was the one I had at the top of my list when I made the thread. Seems relatively safe as I love my c&d’s and the bg seems like it but in smaller waist width.

cease and desist seems to be perfect for the style of riding described above. Just a bit to big for an everyday charger.

Coming from the Kye 110, there are a lot of (heavier) skis that will be much more stable.

It's a bit outside your width range, but the Rossi Black Ops 118 is the best ski I've used for mobbing through chop that is also pretty playful. Mount it at -5 or -6 from true center and you can drive it quite hard. Extraordinarily composed at speed, but still playful and is actually very good on firm snow for how big it is.

Nordica Enforcer 110 / 115 are also good options; not quite as stable as the BO 118, but a bit more versatile and easier on your legs (especially on firmer conditions). You can ski them in a very directional style, but they're way more playful and easier at slower speeds than something like the Mantra 102 or Confession.

If you like the C&D, the Billy Goat is a very safe bet, or the Woodsman 116 / 108 if you want something a bit more playful / freestyle-friendly. All of ON3P's skis are quite damp and poppy and they seem like they could be what you're after.

If you want a full-on, directional charger, you could go the route of the Blizzard Bodacious or Volkl Confession, though those may feel a bit odd coming from your current skis and will require more effort and better technique to ski at slower speeds and in tighter spots.

If you want a super stable ski, I would not recommend the Rustlers. They're really fun skis, but I find them much less stable than all the skis I mentioned above, and I doubt they'd offer a large enough bump in stability to be worth buying as replacements for the Kye 110.

Looked at the blackops as well, but since I already have the C&D I think it would overlap to much.

Everything else seems like good suggestions that Ill explore in a bit.

Considering your location, I see the blizzard gunsmoke show up on ksl from time to time. Maybe that’s more your speed?

Moment wildcat or ON3p woodsman both in the 108 sound from the reviews like a ski that would fit the bill for you. I think I am going to order a set of wildcats next week to fill the exact niche you have explained.

I am in a similar position to you and ski similar to how you described. The skis I am most highly considering right now are the Moment Wildcat 116 and On3p Jeffrey 116. I haven't skied either one yet.

Full on charger?

Doesn't get much better than a Dynastar Pro Rider. 105 underfoot, 2 sheets of metal, 192cm in length, 27m radius, and 4.7kg/10.3 freedom units of pure badassery. However, they're not that much fun in bumps or trees and lack a rockered tail...

I imagine from Dynastar M Free 108 would be worth looking at next year for a nice combo of the playfull/charger aspect along with something like the ON3P Woodsman 106, Moment Commander or Wildcat, or perhaps the Rossignol Blackops mid-100 option.

With regards to the BG, it takes a more balanced stance. A full on charging stance isn't really meant for the BG. Maybe the SuperGoat can take it, but I found the BG prefers a balanced/neutral stance.

Dont wanna hijack his thread, but have you skied these? I just bought the 2019's on crazy sale cause i needed a ski for the exact same reason as OP/to replace my JJ. Hoping for killer feedback.

I don't think it's hijacking because it relates. Lmk otherwise OP and I will take it to the DMs.
If you're looking for a hard charger with float the Anima is tough to beat.
Demo'd the ski twice and really liked the flex - subtle flex progression from tips to tail.. but stiff.
A couple times landing backseat where the I could rely on the ski to keep me up.
Also, I drive hard and the ski definitely kept up with how much I could push it.

I think it was a Blister podcast that turned me on to trying the Anima, but I can't recall specifically. It wasn't geared towards the ski or company directly, but it was someone reputable talking about it was the ski he relied on most for drive-ability. I'll try to find it and let you know.

But let me know what you think when you get them. I'd be curious to hear.
