I’m taking a business class for school, and I hate our idea. I would love to do something that involves skiing! Please list any problems you have while skiing or any ideas you have!

GrandThingsOh yeah like a cigar lighter. I literally have one of these that I found on a golf course but never use cause it burns the flower to quick. Never thought about using it for lighting Js thos. Great call bro.

Breaking ski brakes when I eject landing switch. Make a brake that can spring the opposite direction rather than stabbing into the snow and breaking.

I want to share it with you. My brother and I are starting a business based on skiing right now. We will sell the best product of its kind. That is, for each type of product, we will choose a specific model that will have the highest rating on the market. However, to pull off such an idea, I read on Discover Magazine that we need to open an LLC company. This will take about a month and a half, so we now have the opportunity and time to analyze and purchase the goods for the season. By the way, in this thread there are excellent answers about this, I will probably remember some of the answers as they will help me with the choice of problems

Some kinda armored thumb pads for under or over gloves for crush protection, combined with brenkaway poles could maybe extend seasons for some.
Seems like it would open a business to establishing a name for safety/protection, could incorporate gloves and have a glove/armored pad combo and co ops with other companies if you chose to license the design

A lot of companies don't give a shit about advice from skiers. Pros that get new setups every other week often don't see long term durability issues because their gear often goes from brand new to dismembered in an instant and is often summed up to extreme use. I've emailed companies with problems and they direct me to my local shop for a replacement. Not sending this kind of stuff to their engineers is so irritating, especially if there is an obvious fix.



Dalbello uses the cheapest stamped aluminum for their Lupo walk switches. Many of their other boots use a much stronger machined part for the walk switch that I assume they shyed away from (due to weight?)... I've heard they're dropping a krypton with tech fittings and no walk mode next year? Maybe I'm wrong and they're gonna use the more durable walk switch but going no walk switch sounds stupid.

No you’re right, there is a Krypton 130 TI. It seems odd to not have a walk switch, because the boot will have very little rearward motion, but hey, I’m no engineer 🤷‍♂️

I just thought it was really weird considering the current Panterra seems to have a pretty robust walk switch and even space to drill a hole to make it match the spacing on the Lupo/krypton cuff.

I don't mean to make it sound like I'm shit talking companies, but would be cool to know my feedback actually reached their engineers and not just be deflected by their marketing team. Obviously there are companies active on this site that look for user input and I really think that's a huge part of why they succeed and maintain a good reputation.

I wish companies cared more about the longevity of their products, especially when boots are something people rarely buy every year, so having something last that cycle without issues could help secure repeat customers.

Lol well I’m in Montana these days but springs is sacred ground. If you’re into riding rails, drinking beers, or doing both concurrently, it’s vibe city. The actual scene of riders is fantastic. Trouble is it’s way more expensive than when you would’ve last been there. I really can’t even afford a day pass when I’m back.

Shit just covered parking would be a step up, and not having to remove the snow from that area would save overhead plus they could charge $5-$20 to park there, it could also generate a few jobs for parking lot security, the kind that sit at the entrance and only come out when someone is jacking your Thule box, no weed patrols 😡

it does not have to be like 15C all the time. Design them using the best known methods for passive solar heating, and the rest through solar panels/ and a backup generator. If its -40C, it will be -4C in there at the lowest. Make some sort of guarantee like that. Just enough so that most camper vans furnace can take over if necessary. Sure the new sprinters will all their fancy things can stand the cold, but everyday normal guy 1978 van for 6000 probably cant. Make it warm enough so that guy can ski and not worry about his van freezing up. There is a guy here in Alberta who has a passive solar greenhouse and grows tomatoes all year round...north of calgary, with no supplemental furnace, and it only gets below 0 in there a few times a year only when it is the absolute coldest.

I used to think the tom wallsich poles had this just by looking at it in a glance. Decided not to carry a driver in my bag becasue of this. Binding came loose and thats how i found out it wasnt a screwdriver :/

It would be good for estimations, but speed isn't everything. The way you pop, how much you weigh, the rotation you throw, and the wind all affect how you'll fly thru the air. For example, one of my first ever cork attempts I set way too early, kinda "counter popped" and came up way short even though I knew I had the right speed. My bro was follow camming me and made it just fine
