Blew my knee today need vibes

Epic start of the day with a foot plus of pow on the last day of my trip in Austria. A couple nice laps in and start getting playful, do a handful of nose butters and on one I felt the tell tale pop. Knew it was blown before I hit the ground. Luckily with my wife and took over an hour to limp on one ski down to a lift to download. Don’t have insurance over here and know that sled rides are $$$. Limped my way back to the hotel and time to start reading about blown knees and find a doctor back home in the states. Bummer! Hope everyone had/has a better day out there! /sadrant

shoulda stayed in Germany for that experimental/stem cell treatment. you could be riding again this season. although it is probably pricey.

For real though, orthopedic medicine has come a far way and you should be good quicker than you may think - if surgery is required however, expect 6 months minimum. depending on the injury, say ACL tear of level 1/2 would require surgery if you seek to get back to the same level of athleticism. hardest part of recovery will be the mental aspect of regaining the confidence to not baby your knee or body.

all in all i would say blowing a knee beats breaking a bone in your leg or rupturing your Achilles.

Gotta say I’m not overly bummed. I’ve gotten away with a lot of shitty twisting type falls over the years, been slacking on my fitness and see this as opportunity to reset and come back stronger. Won’t be back in the states for a week and I’ll set up an appointment to get checked out. Anyone have braces they recommend? Probably gonna need one of those before a new set of sticks haha.

+vibes dude. I'm just coming off a double meniscus and acl surgery last year. Rehab is no joke and you really need to stay dedicated. The monotony is the hardest part but you've got to keep the discipline to come back strong!

Fr tho that sucks at least it was the last day! Keep your head up bro take it as an opportunity to really come back stronger and better

damn bud! you'll be ok, just look at how often people fo through that.

At least you didn't shatter your knee cap, that injury is the most haunting thing I've ever experienced. I'm going to have to figure out some stem cell shit or something, because I don't think i'll be skiing in 10 years with this pain.

Probably would have been cheaper to stay there...US healthcare system is screwed.

That said, ACL is a solid 8-9 month rehab, I'm at a little over 8 months on a full reconstruction and still not skiing. That's a major bummer, nothing about ACL is fun.

Good vibes sent. Ive done both my knees, ACL in the left with some cartilage damage(1997) and ACL, MCL in the right exactly 12 months ago. Had surgery in April, I was on a stationary bike at the end of May, wasnt able to skate any all summer but I was skiing the first weekend in December. Listen to your doctor and your PT. I purchased Don Joy braces after each surgery(insurance assisted with the payment, otherwise they are $900 ea.) so now I ski with bionic knees now,lol. I can relate to the feeling you are going through, its not the end of the world. Go see a sports doctor, no reason to go to the ER or your local(they will just refer you to a specialist anyways). It all starts with your attitude, yeah it sucks you will miss the rest of the season but things could be a lot worse. Take this time to concentrate on you, spend some time with the wife, learn a new hobby, like playing the guitar if you dont already(you will have a few weeks of downtime.) Best of luck homie, DM if you have any questions. There is a PT on here I cant remember his name, @SkierPT maybe?? He might have some better info.

Also I can't help but ask, what's the reasoning behind no insurance? Coming from the states, surely you'd know all too well how crucial it is

Hopefully it's a quick heal but either way it's just time and will be over before you know it. Ski injuries are the worst because you go from having a great time then when you least expect, season over but many season's left in life though.

American insurance is not recognized in other countries. Im sure OP has insurance but just not travel insurance which you need to pay extra for if you want coverage while traveling.

Exactly my point, sorry I wasn't too clear. I'm wondering why OP didn't get travel insurance. Being from the US I'm sure he's aware of how much medical bills can amount to, you'd think travel insurance would be the first thing on the list (including winter sports insurance).

Hey man, sorry to hear about this. I was tagged and wanted to give my opinion.

If it’s an ACL tear and you want to ski again, you’ll probably need surgery. The recovery is 6 months to over a year. Ouch, I know. Buttttt you can make the recovery fun. The initial stages of PT will suck. It won’t be easy or fun. As you progress though, it’ll be like working out, like getting back into shape. Find a good sports PT. You’ll be a better athlete by the end of your PT than you are now.

Did my acl in December. I feel ya man it sucks big time. Just keep your head up and eyes looking forward and recovery goes by fast.

So sucky dude. Find some good hobbies, if you don’t already have some, or you’ll go crazy. I spent a lot of time learning After Effects and reading. When you’re strong enough, go to the gym every day.

Just out of ACL surgery 1 month out down here in AZ cause it’s warm and nice. Cleared to walk and ride a bike on smooth streets. As some of the other guys said the orthopedic medicine has come a long way. The work is typically spotless. Keep your head up and DO YOUR PT .

So I blew my ACL too. And I'm not doing anything the allopathic doctor is telling (selling) me to do.

The simple answer is you need to Detox. Regeneration of tissue cant take place without the proper clean alkaline environment in your knee.
Do this. Eat a Fruit Based Raw food only diet. Consume herbal medicine like Bladderwrack, Irish Sea Moss, Marshmallow Root, Horsetail, Dandelion, ginger, Burdock, Yellowdock, Saw Palmetto. They should be available at your local apothecary. And theyre cheap too comparatively to Pharmaceuticals and surgeries.
Most importantly, once you've been on a Raw diet for a month with Herbs preferably, Dry Fast. 36-40hrs is best. Autophagy (white blood cells eating and cleaning dead cells ((like your ACL)) and purging them out via your lymph system to your Kidneys ((you'll pie out what looks like white sand.)) Fasting is the best way for the body to heal and clean itself.

Research Dr. Robert Morse. Dr. Sebi. & John Rose on Youtube. Dr. Morse has multiple Lectures on Regenerating and Healing ACLs. and like he says, the difference between healing your ACL and not Healing your ACL is whether or not youre filtering in your urine (that white sediment i mentioned you'll find in your piss when you dry fast 24hrs+)

Healing Vibes bud! Never had knee issues, but did lose a season to a really gnarly shoulder injury and needed lots of reminders to stay motivated through rehab. Shit is tough, but really satisfying when you can start to feel the impact of your hard work. Things went really slow at first for me, then I got some momentum and came back way better. Different appendage in question, but I'm mostly speaking to the mental side.
