AndrewGravesSVBuy oven mitts and then duct tape around em for waterproofing
Afghan_kushI fill plastic bags with housing insulation (the pink wool stuff) then just chuck my hands in them.

50KalLike sewing you own mitts or just water proofing them?
I know a buddy who traps, then turns critters into super warm over mitts. Sewing leather is extremely difficult, even with a industrial sewing machine.
For water proofing get snow seal and rub it into your leather gloves. If your super careful you can warm them up in a oven. Just don't drip snow seal in the hot oven. It will smoke bad.
I would highly recommend double up on aluminum drip sheets.
notadoctorYou can buy leather scraps from tandy. You can probably find scraps big enough for mitts. They might have some patterns or instructions there too.
It was mentioned before but you can't sew it easy, most machines won't be able to do it so you'll likely end up doing it by hand.
Sounds like an interesting project though, keep us updated on your progress.
