No.QuarterSounds like you are just bored and want to buy new things. If you are in the market for a new helmet because you hit yours hard enough to want to replace it and can drop the extra $40, sure send it, higher technology safety is a good thing.
_IRRELEVANT_Pretty much and I was thinking I should probably get a new one even though there’s no dents and cracks
ShakyFilmerIt’s 10% more protection on rotational impact, I’m not sure 10% is gonna save your brain.
BradElmgrenUp to you if you want to spend the extra money. I have been riding a smith maze with no mips and my dome has taken some pretty brutal crashes. Landed head first on a knuckle of a 60ft jump. I have never gotten a concision so far.
Afghan_kushOnly bitches get concussions
_IRRELEVANT_Only suck ups get motm twice
ShakyFilmernope, also mips is like 40 dollars more expensive. If you're landing on your head hard enough for a serious concussion chances are a mips wont do that much more.
BigPurpleSkiSuitPossibly the worst advice I have seen given here.
I had a run of the mill pow crash and smacked my head on a tree. Put a big dent in my helmet but I was 100% okay. Now I dont have to get a new helmet. Would recommend 10/10

cydwhitJust 'cause there's some weirdness going on in this thread, I'll chime in.
With THall rage caps....
MIPS DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH HOW MANY OR HOW HARD OF IMPACTS YOU'RE DEALING WITH. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DIRECTION AND ROTATION OF THOSE IMPACTS.
Yeah, I know it sounds like "multiple impact protection system" THAT'S NOT WHAT IT IS!
MIPS creates a slip plane, a controlled slide path that lets your head rotate independently from your helmet, that means, in a twisting crash, as your helmet catches on the snow, or tree or rock or whatever, your head can spin inside your helmet in a controlled way, instead of just crashing to a stop. That's all it does.
A MIPS helmet still needs to be replaced after every crash.
You can argue all you want about how helpful MIPS actually is when you're wearing a hat or goggles under your helmet. I'm fine with that conversation.
But once more for the kids in the back: MIPS DOES NOT MEAN YOUR HELMET IS BETTER EQUIPPED TO DEAL WITH MULTIPLE CRASHES. IT JUST HELPS BLUNT A SPECIFIC KIND OF IMPACT.
animatorThis is facts, although i thought it stood for “multi-directional impact protection system”

cydwhittotally, that is what it stands for. But everybody skips the "directional" and ends up with the wrong idea.
