Converting skiing to steps for staff challenge

We are doing a staff step challenge and they want us to convert our other activities to steps. They gave us a chart and say that 1 minute of skiing is the equivalent of 109 steps. How many minutes of "skiing" do I count from my lift skiing session? Last night I had a 4 hour ski session with a 1/2 hour break so I was out on the hill for 3 1/2 hours actually skiing and riding the lift with basically zero stops and no lift lines. If I count the entire time it is 22890 steps. A significant amount of time was spent on the lift though so I am thinking about maybe cutting that in half.

Has anyone on here done this? How much time on hill would you count as time spent skiing?

I feel like it should be at least half if you're a fast skier. Depends how bad you want to win though and how your conciseness will be if you overreport lol

There’s an iOS app called Slopes. It tracks your vertical and it also separates out your actual downhill ski time from sitting on the lift time. You should easily be able to figure out what your trying to do with that app.

I cut it in half and along with my other steps I am still in podium position. Pretty sure the prize is just a water bottle that I already have so trying to keep it honest

Would it help to read articles where people attempt to estimate calories burned while skiing? ive seen a fair number of those (most are probably less-than-scientific of course) and if a common denominator of calories burnt is helpful here for you, that might be a good way to get some info
