Dad skis

Hey yall, I'm looking for skis for my dad, he is an intermediate skier looking for an all mountain ski for mostly hard snow and slush in the midwest. He is about 6' and 180lbs. I'm looking to keep the price below 500 dollars. If you got any good ideas for skis let me know. Thanks everyone!

Soul 7 is always a safe bet, though where does he ski? If he's rarely skiing soft snow, might make sense to go with something narrower. Blizzard Rustler 9 is a ski I've been recommending to a ton of intermediates since it's fun and easy at slow speeds but you can really lay it over if you want. Also the Line Sick Day series is excellent if you don't want him to have the same skis as every other dad, and they haven't been changed (construction wise) in forever so you can usually find pairs on sale.

Thanks! He skis in the midwest on about 300 vert and on pretty much every type of snow besides powder. I'll take a look at the rustler and sick days!

Keep in mind the Soul7 is not around as of next year. So get on it quick if that's the selection.

I only ever ski with one dad that still has kids in the house and he rides some center mounted line TCs. Also has some line Chronics that he uses for all mountain.
They don't make TCs any more so just get him some Chronics and call it good unless you are skiing pow and then get a fatter twin. I ski with a couple of dads that have older kids that are out of the house and they have both fatter pow twins one has some Pettits I think and I know the other has S6s

Also I am wondering, which of these skis is going to be best for crud and choppy snow, becuase that is very common here.

If the snow is fairly shallow and your dad likes to make lots of turns, the Rustler 9 is the best. It's the most damp of the group, but it is a bit complicated since the Rustler has a pretty strong preference for turns GS-size and smaller (feels kinda hooky when you really open it up). If you're looking to make larger turns through crud, the Sick Days and Soul 7 track slightly better, but I think for the midwest, the Rustler would be best.
