I was at snowshoe the other day and I got boomered/citizens arrest by 2 different people in the span of 5 hours. I got yelled at by some old dude for dropping a rock drop on the side of a slope, and an old lady said “wrong place to do that!” When I was in total control switch carving down a cat track. She was full pizza lmao. Anyone else have this happen a lot?
I had a dad that wanted to fight me in the lift line because I "Almost hit his kids". Every trail was a slow zone except for one marked diamond trail called burnout. It was a nice day and I wanted to go fast. I wasn't going to hit his family, but I wasn't going to go slow as fuck just because they could barely make wedge turns. Actually had similar things happen several times.
where does it become acceptable to chew someone out? I was in a lift line with my class (10-14 yr olds) and some random absolutely blew through the lift line and between the ~1 foot gap between me and one of my kids. bitched him out for that.
One time some gaper was skiing at a few miles per hour perpendicular to the fall line on a black diamond run (Reg at Snowbird). Looked like she belonged on the bunny hill. I skied past her at like 70mph (not cutting her off or getting in her way or endangering her in any way whatsoever) and she complained to Ski Patrol about me and called me out to my face on the tram LOL
A couple months back I made a hand-on-the-slope gs carve around this dad and his kid and he yelled at me to "control my speed". I just rode away thinking to myself "That's what im fuckin doing dude!". Jerrys make me laugh.

I hate when you're on edge linking carves together with total control and people will think you're out of control just because you're not slow and scraping away at the snow

The thing is these damn people don't know the difference between a good skier that is in control and is managing a totally safe distance, and the hoards of idiotic snowboarders from Texas that actually are dangerously uncontrolled.
I will say this though. When it comes to little kids, I just defer everything to them. I'll slow way down, stop short, or go extremely wide to avoid the entire family. Its just easier on everyone. Little kids are insanely unpredictable and parents will overreact.

what is out of control is the 90 degree turn out of nowhere that gapers love to do on cat tracks and narrow trails.
I got yelled at by some Jerry boarder at copper last week going into the banked trail they have set up. Out of the 4 people in my group I was the furthest from him and he yelled at me! He was doing the whole Egyptian boarder stance blocking the entrance so we had to squeeze by him.
Ahhhh the joys of being a close relation of a ski patrol director.... love giving people the finger and telling them to fuck off and they can’t do a thing about it. 😂😂. Best part is that the old man rips just as hard as we do.
Opposite actually. A few days ago I was skiing switch down a blue, and a guy who must have been in his 60s or so applauded me. It was kind of surprising actually. I turned back to front because I was at the end of the trail, and the guy skiing behind me came up to me and talked about how he wish he could do that, and if he tried he’d probably fall backwards. I laughed a bit and it felt pretty good tbh.

This right here. I cant vouch for the Texas snowboarders but we have all experienced the Jerry or the Gaper that only rides a few times a year and anyone going over 5 mph is out of control to them. Best to just stay as far away from them as possible and be prepared for them to turn and stop right in front of you. Defensive skiing in a way.

unless they're ski patrol who the fuck are they to tell you what or what not to do. its always THOSE people that are the danger - you skiing like champ is distracting to them and they're panic'ing that they don't know how to ski. something like that. whatever
Goddamn nothing rustles my jimmies more when I get yelled at for going fast when I'm in complete control and there is some Jerry right next to me who is completely out of control.

We have a freestyle class at our mountain, and it’s a very loose and unstructured thing. Most of the lift workers and ambassadors don’t even know it exists. But anyway, because of the class we are able to cut through the ski school line, and every park rider in the area just joins up to skip the long ass line. So it ends up being like 30 people in baggy ass hoodies and pants skipping all of the racers and old skiers. The amount of dirty looks and accusations we get are out of control. One time this old woman with the classic “rich female skier” look cursed one of the guys out and started insulting him. She got at least triple the shit she dished out back tho.
I beat the shit out of that place and never get troubles but it’s empty Monday thru Thursday , try going then

I was on some cat track going towards ballhooter, definitely not bombing, maybe 15 mph at most haha. Wish Shay's glades were open this past sunday, I hucked myself off a rock on the far right of upper shays with minimal snow it was hella sketch

I was ripping cup during snowmaking once and got real close to this dad and his kid who were resting on the very side , I basically sprayed the shit out of them , at the bottom all the dad said to me was tough as hell to see today but boy it’s fun, kid was like yaaaa dad , and I said hey sorry I sprayed he was like no prob b safe , some ppl r cool 👍🏻

At a small resort in Ohio I recently had an older woman instructor bring a train of little kids in a lesson snaking through the park inbetween rails and jumps. I suggested in an irritated tone that what she was doing was dangerous. She got mad and yelled and shit. She brought them to the open trail 50 yards away and shouted “are they safer over here” sarcastically and me and a few others shouted “yesss” in return and she rode away with them shaking her head pissed. Real good point about kids. I’ll gap an adult jerry all day (at a safe distance) but with kids giving them a wide berth is the best option. Before I knew better I’d try and carve around them with less space and I’ve been taken out more than a few times because they’re so damn unpredictable
a week ago some girl went straight across the hill below a blind roller without looking and I was bombing it and skied over her skis and she fell down. I stopped right away and her dad came down to me and immediately said it was my fault because I was the uphill skier, without even seeing if his daughter was ok first. I aksed if she was ok and he just kept saying it was my fault and I saw her getting up, so I just left. this was before a long flat section on one of the busiest runs on the mountain you need a lot of speed for, how are people this clueless

It’s easy to go into attack mode as a dad.... and easy to lose reason when your kids r involved that said I’m quite calm and have never flipped on anyone
And it sounds like you handled it very well, keeping calm and prioritizing the kid , good job
