Straight from utter downpour to freezing fog with 80+ mph winds AKA we fucked. would put this in regionals but no one goes on there. side note to this, Schweitzer is having their first every freeride comp this weekend, which I was planning on doing. Not sure how thats gonna work out.
Damn, this is crazy. I was skiing today in MT (bridger bowl) and it was hella windy as well. Not sure if the two are related at all but some lifts were closed, fencing was ripping out of the ground, lift line ropes were knocking over, etc

Wasatch Front here in Utah was sitting under heavy fog all last week..couldn’t see buildings right next to me on the road. Wind in Southern Idaho ruined the dumpage from the day and night before. This weather is fucked.

All I know is, nobody come to baker. It sucks really bad. Like, so bad that you shouldn’t even check the snow conditions, just write it off completely.
Baker had sustained winds of 110 mph for 5 hours on Friday night. So gnarly it ripped the propanel off of the lodge roof at heather meadows. So much rain that the snow report read -36 inches on Saturday. I feel bad cause Henrik, Chris Logan, and Crazy Karl all came up to send some big ass jumps. Luckily the temps have dipped back down and the forecast is calling for snow starting Monday night. Might be fucked, but it’s amazing how fast things change up here.
Lil update on my situation, they just decided to cancel the schweitzer comp even though the alternate venue they had switched to was very skiable. I really regret signing up for the comp, this was the only comp I have done and it costed 85$ plus a 25$ one-time IFSA membership. Turns out there’s no refunds, which means that I just paid 110 for a single sticker that I got for signing up. Me, along with most of the other kids around 17-18, had to pay for this comp ourselves. I would appreciate anyone who drops a “fuck you” in the comments of their most recent post.

Such assholes, just remember that doing well in freeride comps (or just ski comps in general) is as much about how much money your parents have as it is about having actual talent.
